I love to delve into these "portraits", besides their calming simplistic backdrops and pure focus, they are demanding tests of accuracy and details, challenging. SirMikey, lately I've been re-re-watching your 2016s and zowee, it can be done, can be done, your detail workings continue to improve dramatically. This one's hard, the veins, and frost, eegad, frost, to capture its delicacy, transparency is quite a feat. Good one, Mikey, best one. Thanks immensely for posting this.

This is probably a dumb question, but do you varnish your work/have suggestions for doing so? I am a landscape painter in atx and have no formal training. I have never used varnish or anything and honestly don't know how important it is to do so...

When I saw you paint those 'veins' on those leaves, I suddenly realized that I've always struggle to make things look random. It always falls in some kind of pattern which is very obvious at the first glance...So now I wonder if my brain can't handle tasks such as those or is it just a common thing with humans in general?
