While the skin tones part was mind blowing, I really liked your explanation of vibrancy at the beginning. My sister used to paint and my parents were always like why can't she just get the basic colors and mix them to make the others. She was too young to explain the concept, it's nice to know there's a reason to it!

also has to do with the fact that the primary colors we learn shouldn't actually be red, blue and yellow, but cyan, magenta and yellow (which jamie calls neons but same thing).

@@kaijohnson3255 yea i wish it were taught in schools. i went through four years of highschool art before finding out lool. it sucks too that there are so many products for beginner painters/artists with just red, blue, yellow, white and black claiming that's all you'd need! it's common knowledge but it's totally inaccurate 🤦🏻♀️

I just took an acrylic painting class last weekend, it was a nice class but didn't focus on mixing colors. This was really insightful for someone trying to get back into acrylic painting! especially when you like creating (at least somewhat) realistic creatures!

Wow this video is great and really informative thank you so much! I’ve recently been getting into drawing and I’m also a beginner makeup artist so this video actually helps with learning more about skin tones and undertones when is comes to shade matching people for makeup such as foundation. It really helps me get a better understanding of the colour wheel and how to achieve the different shade range including undertones as it’s pretty hard to understand colour concepts and how to get someone’s perfect match. This is actually so helpful. Mixing colours is always what I struggled with so much when I did GCSE art. And skin colours were even worse. Also the giraffe painting is adorable. Reminds me of the London Zoo ones with that background

thanks this is really helping a lot. i recently started painting with acrylics among other traditional mediums again, but mixing skintones is still smth i struggle with a bit, but i feel like now that i have seen how to do it, the next time i mix them will be a success~~ i usually mixed mine with a mixture of white mixed with sienna tones, red and a tad of yellow if needed, similiar to the way i mix in watercolors~ but i never really thought about mixing even more colors to it~ but i'll try! ♥♥
