To be honest, I personally wouldn’t bother paying for really high quality aesthetic work. I’m not picky at all, and I just really don’t care less if there’s imperfections. As long as everything in my house functions right, I happy. I don’t really care about paying a premium to make everything look perfect. Decent is good enough for me haha

They even make a special jig that connects to the hinge mounting holes for exactly this purpose. I don't know the brand but I've seen them on the jobsite, they are yellow. In the video it looks like they use stir sticks but obviously that will leave an unpainted surface under the sticks that will have to be touched up. By connecting at the hinge holes any unpainted surface will be under the hinge.

No offense to Scott, the foundation work was perfect, but this paint finish work left me confused until just now seeing this video. The paint work was not automotive quality, it was high end custom, perfect deep candle apple red hot rod quality. My wife and I thought maybe it was plastic, but that didn't seem possible, it was just too perfect. I've been a professional painter in Canada for longer than what I want to admit. The crazy thing for me is the process and fill methods are the same. The only difference is we have smooth walls and they are painted after the trim(mask the finished millwork). The 3M glazing putty here has a special label and is kept behind the counter at the paint store to be legal for sale in Canada. The only difference is the paint choice, my region was very lacquer based so now we use a waterborne lacquer that has a comparable finish to kitchen cabinets. When someone wants to negotiate or can't afford the price for this quality of work we use a latex paint and do about half the amount of prep/cleaning because the latex lays down heavier and hides bigger particles of dust than a lacquer. For me it is amazing to see that I could move a few thousand miles and still go straight to work in my industry without relearning new steps or processes. Question: The close up on the sprayer bucket, did they use A100 as a trim paint inside or was that just a clip inserted ?
@ronsharp90423 жыл бұрын
That was a clean bucket used to spray out of. The finish paint is filtered through a mesh strainer bag into a clean bucket. The finish is Pittsburgh high luster interior latex semi gloss.

@@gvanderleun Don't know where Nick is from, but my local Canadian Tire has 3M glazing putty out on the shelves, right beside the bondo and sandpaper.

@@ronsharp9042 Sometimes if you have a small volume to spray and you want to draw out of a 1 gallon container, it's safer to set the 1 gallon container into the bottom of the 5 gallon, as the pickup tube is geared to a 5 gallon pail, and would tend to tip over the 1 gallon. I have a 2 gallon hopper for my sprayer I use when I have small volumes to spray.
