Painting my Best Miniature yet by Breaking ALL the Rules?!

As you probably already picked up, Goblins are my FAVOURITE faction In Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar and well... everything else too!
And I've painted hundreds of them the same way for years. Green skin, pink noses, red mushrooms ... you get the picture.
Well in this video I'm going to change that and paint up a VERY special Goblin miniature using new paints, a new colour-scheme and new techniques in the hopes that it'll be my best miniature ever...

The design of this little twilight goblin guy is awesome, and I love the paint scheme you chose. I think it came out very well, especially the fluorescent paints under the blacklight which is a neat hidden touch. I had to immediately order the model and the tie-dye shirt! Let's hope they get to the U.S. okay.

yes. thank you. goblins are the best :) a herd of angry housecats... the city soldiers are the local animal control. the veteran standing next to the fresh kid, 'guard your ankles son, their little teeth are pointy and they don't let go'. and there's no other adorable little things you get to punt, and step on, and your a hero and the goblins don't even care. Dealing with a goblin army would be therapudic, just wear long sleeves... but, i'm heavily influenced by the Gremlins movies, and Labrynth. those came out when I was a little kid. super fun

Hell. Yes. One of my only warhammer regrets was allowing a guy at the local GW to persuade a much younger me that "orks are always green" as a response to bringing some grey-skinned orks I'd painted. I also agree there are some fundamental shading/highlight assumptions that deserve a second look. I've seen edge highlighting take a mini from WH40k to Tron too many times...

Ummm, are you reading my mind? I was like "purple goblins would be cool" and I was thinking of the Royal Purple from the Pro Acryl signature line. Also, I did an airbrush volumetric highlight for a test blood angels scheme, before I decided to paint ultramarines, and it looked so much better imo. I think the mud between the stones on the base looked great

You get a like for showing the "alternative way of shading" with such a nice educational visual example. I am myself stuck in the GW "base-wash-highlight/drybrush" way of thinking, so maybe I will have to try this (for me) new way of shading miniatures. In the video you also mention that you like to go ham when painting. It would be interesting to see a video where you go over rare or weird ways to paint your miniatures - like maybe using a sponge, wiping paint off, colorshift paints, and similar unconventional things.
