For all the people who are so ~upset~ that I posted a Christmas video this early: 1. We're in a pandemic. Shipping is incredibly slow right now, so if people want these ornaments before Christmas, I had to post it now. 2. Again, these are difficult times. If getting festive early helps people feel happy, then let them have their happiness. Instead of happy shaming, use your energy to post what you're doing to keep your spirits up right now. 💜

I don’t get why people get so upset over when someone males a personal decision to celebrate Christmas. If ever we need a little Christmas...it’s NOW. You do you! Love it!
@Terrelli94 жыл бұрын
Or why anyone gets upset over any decision that’s not hurting themselves or anyone else. And even from a practical standpoint, Mira’s right. We artists DO have to start on Christmas things now, or even earlier, if we want to sell them.

Aww I love your glasses!!! Growing up we celebrated Christmas Mexican style. We didn't believe in Santa Claus but we did put up a tree. We did Las Posadas which was basically the whole neighborhood reenacting Joseph and Mary looking for a place to stay in Bethlehem. At the last house we got let in and had a big party with food and a piñata!!! Traditionally the wise men bring the gifts (not Santa) but they didn't get there until Jesus was two so you have to wait until Jan 6th (the day of the wise men) to get gifts (We got ours on Christmas eve since we lived in the USA), so that day is another big party and we have a Rosca bread which has a baby Jesus baked into it. Whoever gets the baby Jesus has to have a party on February 2nd which is Candlemas. So as you can plainly see - we like to party. I was wondering about the gesso too but then also thought maybe those wood discs come pre sealed. You know these don't have to be just Christmas tree ornaments - you can hang them around the house all year-round!! Yes I would love to see more of these ornament paintings!!! Merry Christmas Mira!! But first - Happy Thanksgiving!!

Oh my goodness, your Christmas traditions growing up sound so FUN! I would love to celebrate like that one year and go to Candlemas on Feb 2! Thanks for sharing your traditions. And you are totally right about these being hung up year round! 💜

My family’s tree started as a “memory” tree. Each ornament was supposed to represent really significant events of the last year, or represent different people in our lives. But each year, it has slowly converted into a Harry Potter themed tree. Complete with a Hogwarts express train. 😅 And since my sister works at Hallmark, we get some really great discounts! In keeping true to that... I think you just gave me a “Fantastic” idea!!! 😏

I actually get seasonal sadness in summer. I live in an area that’s stinkin hot and sticky from the middle of April until the middle of October. I normally make ornaments and other crafts every year and donate them to my grandson’s school (started doing this over 20 years ago for my son’s) for their holiday shop. With no in-school learning going on, I only made a dozen for myself. I used these same wood slices and antique Christmas prints from Etsy. They turned out great. Yes, my tree is up. This is the earliest I’ve ever put it up. I usually take it down soon after new year’s. 🎄

The Irony is that these are not only beautiful, but actually very traditional. Bringing colour and reminders of spring and summer have been very common winter and christmas decorations for centuries, it's only in recent hestory where things had to be themed to christmas itself. I love the flowers and they would not be particularly out of place on an 1800 tree (all be it the painting style and materials may differ somewhat) or my great grandmothers. Love it! Also, your tree is really pretty!

These were very fun to watch ! My husbands family is Russian, and their Xmas is layers then ours, we end up keeping the tree up until the last week of January or longer 😂 I LOOOVE painting my own ornaments and have done the glitter thing, Marbleized, added rhinestones & stickers, etc. When my grandma passed away few years ago , I painted a set of 6 of the round (but sorta flat) clear ornaments with different purple & blue Irises, and put my own ribbon on them. Gave them out to 5 people in our family as keepsakes for my grandma it was her favorite flower

Since you mentioned making rebellious ornaments, I’m obsessed with nightmare b4 Xmas, and Halloween in general. So I have creepy things and Halloween ornamentes mixed with my Christmas 🎄. I have a glass Xmas spider , I have cobweb ornaments & a sexy zombie cat lady. Next to the crystal dove and plaid ornaments I started to do a Halloween tree in October, then every month changed the theme and did a valentines tree, an Easter/spring tree, and again Halloween. So I get to paint ornamented all year round whatever I’m feeling

You could add a few slices of wood, some paint( you'd have to get those little paint pots) and ribbon and add a link to a video tutorial or make a step by step picture tutorial in the kit and put it all in a little muslin or burlap bag. Our Xmas tree usually stays up about a week and a few days after Xmas. And we have Easter, but we celebrate it differently, we always get some flexible branches, and we tie them together like a braid but there's like six lines instead of three, and then we put something like duck tape on the bottom so it's easier to hold, and a bow on the top. And then we go out to our friends and family and we get more bows and some chocolate eggs or normal eggs. It's a little bit like Halloween (which we don't have here). I'm from Czech republic 😆🎄💞✨
