You might want to try a rug pad under the rug for a little more cushion and it will keep it from bunching up

I LOVE the black! I am loving the industrial black styles lately! However when you showed the picture of the other fireplace, I can’t help but think it would look 50x better if it was all the way up like the pic! And then that brown mantel would POP! 😍 either way it’s beautiful and I love it!

I literally love black. My favorite is light gray, white, black and alittle gold. I don't have many wood or wood tones in my home but I have to say it looks amazing with the pops of wood. Everything looks great keep doing what you love I really enjoy changing things its my passion home improvements and refesh lol. 9 yrs ago we put pergo floors in our house and it has a orange wood tone and I hate it now, I want all light gray floors so bad for like the past five years, finally got my husband on board and he did the bathroom with light gray luxury vinyl it looks amazing, once money allows we will do the rest of the house 🤞🤞🙏 lol trust me I get it change is fun xo

We are doing a black fireplace in our master bedroom. I think you should have gone all the way up with the black, paint the shiplap up and around as to frame it and make it pop. I love that you are going more bold, gets you out of your comfort zone.

I do agree with this! I love the fireplace but I feel like the fireplace alone is kind of like a “black box” feeling in the room. Nevertheless they did a wonderful job.

Love the fireplace and love the rug! But I feel like a rug with some black in it or some pillows with black would balance out the light couch/carpet with the dark fireplace. So cute tho!!! Also LOVE the exposed wood mantel with the black :)

You should paint the shiplap above the mantle and on the sides black too but leave the sides with the shelves white! Update: you just showed the inspiration photo and now I think this even more!

I love the black fireplace, and I think keeping the mantel the wood tone was an excellent choice. I recently painted a living room wall black and moved a gel fuel fireplace that is a dark wood tone to the black wall. The contrast between wood tones and a black background look great, really accenting the beauty of the wood. I'm glad you decided to decorate for what you like and what you wanted to do. We should always decorate for ourselves, not for whatever the latest "design star" tells us we should be doing. They're in the business of trying to get us to spend lots of money yearly throwing out perfectly good things and buying all new. Ain't happening in this house on my retirement income!
