i remember vividly one of the first things i drew. i was probs like 5 or 6 and it was a scene of a bunch of stick dinosaurs standing on a mountain, each one labeled allosaurus, t-rex, Spinosaurus with very bad spelling. growing up dinosaurs defined basically every aspect of my life, especially art, i have like 7 full A3 sketchbooks just of dinosaurs and i even made dino OCs with very specific info about them. after years surprising i stoped drawing them and moved on to new obsessions cars, tanks, superheroes and people, in that order. its crazy to think that one really old and completely inaccurate david attembrough documentary sparked the inspiration for many career goals, including my current one, a full time, professional artist. i will never forget drawing dinosaurs and i would love to draw some again to see just how far iv'e come since then.

I started doing art of my little pony characters because i was absolutely obsessed with that show and now, 7 years later i'm doing contemporary portraits and getting ready to go to do a fine art degree in university. I'm never going to regret doing fan-art of that show no matter how embarrassing it may sound to have drawn unicorns and pink ponies in my free time😂😂

Gorgeous painting as usual. I’m glad you always find the time to share with us some of your art. Can’t believe there is another person in the world who grew up obsessed by drawing Sailor Moon. I feel less childish now, thank you! These fantasy worlds are just the perfect fuel to an artist imagination. Whenever I have an artist block I use my favourite art books (Sailor Moon and Final fantasy mostly) to remember how I felt when I was drawing so freely. So, my first characters were Sailor Moon, Misty from Pokémon and Garnet from Final Fantasy IX.

I adore this painting, but I love the story you told along with it, it just made my day! I loved picture books as a kid, but we couldn't afford too many, so my first memory was drawing my own with my mom. Usually animals with large markers and some office supplies from her work. I haven't thought about it in a long time, but now I want to draw and paint even more again.

I was 7 years old when Star Wars came out in 1977. I started drawing R2D2 and C3PO and of course all the battles. Oddly enough, I've only drawn Grogu recently. I guess now I'll have to start my Star Wars series again! Currently I'm more interested in being a tattoo artist. I've just restarted drawing again after 35 plus years away from it. Now I'm relearning and hopefully will grow as an artist. I really love your work and love the water color. I think I'd like to try that someday. I have to say that watching you create your artwork is very inspiring and meditative. Thanks for the content!

seconding responses from above, also there must be hidden jumpcuts between painting and putting the tape on/taking it off. a huge cause for tape ripping paper or taking off paint is that the paper is still moist. a trick my art teacher taught me is to let it dry until it is no longer cool to the touch

I kinda envy those who get to tell stories of how shows or characters has inspired them to draw. My case is different, one day when I was 4 or so, I pick up a pencil and an notebook then draw random scribbles and shapes that follows the rhythm of a music my sister played. years later, drawing random characters still stuck to me and it always bring me the nostalgia of my childhood 💖💕

FIRST OF ALL BEAUTIFUL PAINTING. YOUR STORY WITH SAILOR MOON IS VERY MUCH MY STORY; THAT'S HOW I GOT TO FIND OUT THAT I HAD THE POTENTIAL TO DRAW. BORN IN THE 80'S & GREW UP IN THE 90'S IN EUROPE. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS AN INFLUX OFF OF ANIME AND I DIGESTED IT LIKE NO OTHER. AMONG THE ANIMES WAS S.M, D.G, LADY OSCAR, RANMA 1/2, GEORGIE, CANDY, KIMAGURE ORANGE ROAD, MAISON IKKOKU ETC SAILOR MOON WAS THE ONE THAT CAUGHT MY EYES AND LEFT ME WITH A STRONG IMPRESSION. THOUGHT IT WAS THE COOLEST THING ON EARTH. BACK IN THE DAYS WHEN TV WAS WORTH EVERY HOUR. I WAS KNOWN AS THE GUY WHO LOVED SAILOR MOON & SUBSEQUENTLY DREW SAILOR MOON. THAT'S HOW I GOT BY IN SCHOOL/LIFE. IT WAS MY KIND OF PARTY TRICK... IF YOU WANT. IT GAVE ME & BECAME MY IDENTITY. STILL ADORE SAILOR MOON. WAS WATCHING A SAILOR MOON CLIP BEFORE THIS...

Hiiii! I always doodled but never really took my drawings seriously because I never really saw them as good drawings. To me they were just products of boredom during classes at school. It wasn’t until I found a very old watercolor palette, which we had gotten from the dollar store, that I started having fun with my drawings. I figured out how to use the watercolors and the first ever painting I did with the medium was a simple flower on a hill. But that simple painting sparked my love for painting. :)

As a kid I remember enjoying how much art made someone light up... It changed their mood when they received something I did for them... and I guess I kept doing it to cheer people up. I also had a lot of hobbies because I grew up an only child un-interested in most things the other kids did. I lost motivation and passion as a grown up because I felt my art wasn't improving in the way I'd hoped and it wasn't giving off the happiness (or emotion) That I had hoped for it. A lot of materialism in commissions... "It's just art" but I put my soul into everything I do. So TLDR; My joy for the craft was overshadowed by my stress to improve! Despite saying this we're still out here working on it so that one day I can supply people with those feel good chemicals on the level that you do for me! ♥

Because it’s probably not paper. The “paper” you see used for watercolor are sheets made 50% paper 50% cotton, rhe best ones are 100% cotton. Cheap cellulose version of watercolor sheets follow anyway a peculiar making path and are really different from standard drawing paper

This is my first time seeing one of your videos. I like your style and the watercolors are beautiful. I remember drawing a farm scene, well, a barn, a horse, a pig, and a chicken, on a chalkboard that my dad at installed onto my bedroom wall. That was about 1985 when I was 5. From there, I was doing a lot of comics like Xmen, Batman, etc. Then I got into anime/manga and video games. I actually don't draw as often anymore, but I've branched out into crafting with felt, making plushes, and other things. When I draw, it's more for reference. Recently, I've taken an interest in digital art, but I do want to go back to where I started and draw pencil drawings again. I feel that I've lost my touch and obviously haven't gained any new skills, but I don't want to lose it completely.

I've become anhedonistic about the act of drawing and painting to to a combination of stresses and a wretched inherited tremor that started ruining every attempt. This video reminds of how I used to work. It can be extremely frustrating. My whole being wants back what I've lost and angry at this stupid muscular twitch that's developed and sometimes I just glare at it and it mutinously twitches back. It doesn't really affect anything else in my life, but just seems targeted at the one thing I really wanted to do all my life. When someone said just "do something else", I said something that was not philosophical.

I got started in art when I was in primary 4/primary 5 so I was about 7 or 8. We were doing a project on Vincent Van Gogh and basically our teacher had us copying his work from post cards. She was teaching us how to make forgeries basically. If the teacher liked a piece of art someone had done she used to hang them on the wall outside the classroom. That was the first time my work was hung on the wall. And I've loved Van Gogh's work ever since.

But it wasn't until I was 16 that I seriously got into drawing(and coincidentally anime), I had gotten home from high-school frustrated with life because I chose a course that wasn't for me (economics), and I saw an image on pinterest and just drew it, ever since then I've been learning by myself, and this year I'll be starting uni doing what I love, hoping to learn even more

Yellow hair, blue eyes, wearin' orange-blue kind a parka. Just a little kid with big dream to be a mayor in his town. Plus, he had some nine tailed beast op af in his body..That boys, the one who bring me into this art world in the first time.

Always great to see you post new videos, mate! Your work is so inspiring (and so relaxing to watch too!!!). I've been drawing since I was tiiiiiiiny, but I can't remember the first things I loved drawing. But when I was in middle school and W.I.T.C.H. came out, it totally changed my life! I was drawing those characters (or "OCs" from the same universe) all the time! And it greatly influenced my art! :)

I've love your style, and a great idea. Very interesting how technically strong your drawing and the painting the flesh is. It really lays a foundation, anchors the work ready for the later more illustrative and looser elements. Overall its very satisfying to look all, and doesn't look overworked.

Beautiful, brilliant work! Right at the time I could have spent the Covid Crisis...working on painting, I have a terrible tendonitis in my dominant hand that's sidelined it. I love how you still drew her as Japanese because she is Japanese, Alot of people asume she is meant to be white because she has blonde hair and blue eyes, but really the anime style just isn't the best at telling you what race a character is. But why the eybrows so dark ???
