Thank you MM! The effort you make in the video is admirable! Many people use parts of the sets and usually the most intricate masks are substituted with decals. Often due to lack of patience and/or confidence. Japanese Phantom Anniversary sets are among our most difficult and challenging. We trust modelers like you can complete the task though! Those mask sets request the approach that you point out in this video. Look forward to the next episodes to see the open areas of your double ugly!

Although not a new idea, I think those paint masks are a game changer. The effect is so much realistic than decals but I can see they can be complicated & fussy. You did an excellent job.
@MMScaleModels7 күн бұрын
I agree. For me, it is always masks if I have the opportunity.

I haven’t the patience, the skill set or the manual dexterity to do any of that. Amazing.

It is a demanding task for sure.

Great Job!!! Don't worry about other channels and you have to build the model for yourself first. You can't please everyone, but be happy with your work irregardless. Applying weathering is always tricky. Knowing how much and when to stop is always a delicate balance. I will be watching for more of your videos. Keep up the good work!!!!

You are doing an awesome job on this model. Don't get caught in the craziness of the number subscriptions, it's kinda fickle and your channel is top notch!
@MMScaleModels8 күн бұрын
Thank you! I don't really care bout the number of subscribers TBH, this is a bragging stat. Views, however, do matter and it is frustrating to see mediocre (at best) builds rack up numbers that I rarely see. Of course this is nobody's fault. Obviously the market demands it and I don't want to do it :)

I can't imagine real painters,painting actual planes,bearing all this process,it is insane.

They also use stencils and yes, sometimes they freehand stuff. but it is easier to do when you have larger area.

I am speechless. Those eyes really really look great. As does all rest of the work you put into the aircraft. Too bad it's not a USMC aircraft....sorry I'm just a little bit biased as I'm a Marine who used to work F4J, A4F and A6E aircraft. Great job. Love watching your videos.

How in the world do the cut those fine lines of the masks/templates? Thats incredible.
@MMScaleModels8 күн бұрын
Yeah, probably some high-quality equipment.
@IntergalacticViking7 күн бұрын
Once you complete the series you could cut these videos together and upload a full build video. Your full build videos have a lot more views, and the KZbin algorithm seems to like long videos these days.
@MMScaleModels7 күн бұрын
Yeah, that's what I always do. A full build is harder to edit because there is so much stuff that I have to leave out... difficult to decide what is less important :)
@IntergalacticViking6 күн бұрын
@ honestly I would just take the parts you’ve uploaded already and slap them together into a full build video. Almost zero work!
@MMScaleModelsКүн бұрын
It's going to get too long... probably near 2 hours so some more footage will have to go. I am playing with the idea of releasing the full available footage with only dead spaces cut out... several hours of raw experience. Maybe on a separate channel.

What size needle and what air pressure are you using for lines???.
@MMScaleModels4 күн бұрын
0.2 at betwaat 0.8 and 1 bar

To be honest. The initial "marbling" was useless...
@MMScaleModels7 күн бұрын
maybe it was maybe it was not. It is hard to tell because I cannot compare with and without marbling directly.
@LoserDestiny9 күн бұрын
Those masks for the markings add a huge chunk of effort and the end result is just absoluteny NOT worth it - it looks way too messy compared to decals.
@Leescreativeart9 күн бұрын
Depends how you lay everything out I suppose. But then you don’t have any risk of the decals, cracking or silvering later. I think the air brushing adds another level of realism but if it’s not done right, yes decals will be sharper.
@MMScaleModels8 күн бұрын
Well, I obviously disagree but to each their own I guess
