You must have at least 1/2 a million in tools throughout all your videos. It seems the best channels have the most tools and course the experience and money to collect and use them. And then of course you must have a huge shop or shops to use them. That adds another couple hundred thousand. So yes it is well justified that people come to you and pay you whatever it cost, because they do not have the shop area, tools, and know how. And then the time to post videos, is above and beyond! Very smart hard working tradesman. Good job.

Congrats on the ten thousand subs,. Superb tutorial on basic spraying fundamentals. Cut my teeth many years ago in paint/body shop and this is absolutely spot on.. Get the basics right and then practice, practice, practice,

good to hear from you and glad you enjoyed the video. Trying to get the new generation of painters to follow the basics. I have seen too many new painters not have enough air, a cheap paint gun, and water and oil in the air. Set up correctly, learn the basics, and as you say many hours of practice. Arm and wrist muscle memory are very important. should be finished tomorrow and will post another video showing the primer and paint transformation. Brian

An excellent tutorial on spraying, I think the Jeep body is not a very good first project due to the fall out that you can get when spraying the inside surfaces, it requires absolute spot on volume control to avoid this or you end up with the floor looking like sandpaper, I see you also use a top feed gun, I always get a lot of stick for using my Devilbliss top feed, but I find it gives much better access in confined spaces, many thanks for all this "inside" information Brian, I hope people watch and take note, also of your 3/4" steel tube feeder pipes ,they make a huge difference to air quality. Right again Chris. A body tub is a tricky first project and I have seen many that were a disaster. Trying to give some tips for first time painters so they get their basics under control. Air quality, volume, paint control, muscle memory for spraying a long time, etc.... all play into a good or bad paint job. Should have the body and all parts finished tomorrow and will post another video. Brian

Once again , another timely and useful video. I am preparing to start the body work on mine. What do you use for sealer ?
@metalshaperJeep6 жыл бұрын
I use SPI Epoxy. When spraying as a sealer I thin it with reducer anywhere from 5% to 50% and then spray one wet coat. Make sure you are ready for sealer before you spray it. All filler work done, and all coats of primer are laid down and block sanded perfectly. The way things look when the sealer goes down is how your finished body will look.

What are your thoughts on Binks spray guns with a pressure pot?
@metalshaperJeep6 жыл бұрын
I had a binks with pressure pot for spraying heavy industrial paints. Sprayed the heavy stuff great but even with smaller tip sizes it didn't atomize the automotive paints as well as I would have liked. Sold it and put the money towards the Iwata spray guns. They are my favorite and once you use one you won't go back to any cheap gun again.
@frankinjeep11946 жыл бұрын
metalshaper thanks for the info I work with industrial paints and coatings and I'm trying to learn automotive. Your videos have been a great help! Thanks for sharing your weath of knowledge with us lesser mortals
@metalshaperJeep6 жыл бұрын
The binks 95 with pressure pot sprays industrial paints perfectly and if you are in that field it is a great unit. For automotive painting you don't want to be dragging a pressure pot around. Your spray gun and hose control are important. Get the best spray gun you can for automotive paint work and it will pay for itself on the first job. I may try to show the difference between a $50 gun versus a $500 gun and how they spray. If the camera can pick up the difference I will post it. Atomizing the paint is key for a good paint job. Brian
@ericbuist82186 жыл бұрын
metalshaper I would love to see the spray difference between a cheap gun and expensive gun, if possible. I've always wondered about that and I don't have much first-hand experience with painting, though I'm hoping to change that eventually.
