Great video, im rebuilding one right now and my front counter shaft bearing is very loose on the end of the shaft, is that normal? My kit came with 2 different needle bearings, one fits the shaft good but doesn't fit the case.

I like the bob-tail style at 9:55. Switching from leaf to coils in the rear and bobbing off the rest of the frame could complete the look.

Another great video, thank you. , You always do excellent work, Often wish your videos were a bit longer, but I realize that you are a busy person and have a lot of things to do. You build such nice jeeps, It would be great if you would just took a couple days off work and went out wheeling with one of your jeeps and made a video of it. It sure looks like you could use a brake and some fresh air out of your shop, and it would be awesome to see you running one of your jeeps.

Brian, I feel your frustration. I do not ship a lot of items by LTL freight but some suggestions, people that I have used in the past, UPS Freight. They only ship terminal to terminal. You have to haul it to the terminal at your end, the consignee has to pick it up at the destination terminal. Most recently I have used RL Carriers and have been pleased with their charges and services. They offer liftgate truck service for pickup and delivery at an additional charge

Have you ever tried relieving an F head around the exhaust valve like you do on the L head and did it help power output? Just curious.
@metalshaperJeep10 күн бұрын
No, the F head has large intake valves in the head and much more power than the L head engine. I don't ever relieve F heads, only L head engines.

Thanks for the video Brian. I have rebuild my entire jeep with all your help. Starting to strip down the engine next, last piece to do. I trust my jeep wil be good again for the next 70 years, thanks to you. I have a 48 cj2a with the F head engine. Which carb would you recommend? With the 2a hood being so low, we are a bit restricted in what carbs we can use. I have lowered the engine down as far as possible already.

Another beautiful engine, sounds good. I don't mind the fan, it's needed. Finding a military Jeep with all the matching data plates is hard to find, it's hard on the civilian Jeeps to find as well. My 54 has all the matching tags, but the parts civilian jeep i traded some stuff to a friend for had no tags. I took it apart, and it had military wheels, axles, transmission and transfer case, once i got past the grease and 3 other layers of paint, found the olive drab paint. The hood was olive drab underneath, and had the military stencils, and under all the paint on top was the olive drab with the red oxide primer. What was left of the body came from a 53-55 cj5, with a ruined 48 L134 engine. There are some cobbled together rides out there. It took me many year's to find a decent military Jeep, because being up north, the rust is a killer, and going to far out of Michigan wasn't an option. I know you will have that Jeep looking like a true military Jeep. Listening to my grandpa's and uncle's talk about wwll, korea and vietnam always made me want one, plus my grandpa drove an old 50's jeep around the farm, and it was fun when he'd take me out in the corn field's after harvest and run it around. He let us kid's drive this old 67 mule around the farm, those were pretty fun to tear up the field's with. Hope thing's are getting straightened out with the shipping headache. G-d bless.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's, with 3 channel's on either a black and white tv, or the color console tv which was good back then, but much worse than the 90's anything. I know of several hotshot truckers out of berks, Lebanon and Lancaster counties in southeast Pennsylvania. They’re running dually trucks and deck over gooseneck trailers (not enclosed) I don’t know if they regularly go to Connecticut or not but the one guy put 80,000 miles on his truck last year so he definitely gets around.

T98 parts are tough to find these days. You can get gaskets and some small parts thru most transmission parts dealers. Gears and hard parts are hard to find and that is why most people are moving to the T18 because everything is available for them.

Two things you need to try, uShip and lots of eBay. After that you will appreciate the norm of poor service. Seriously, I have shipped a lot of aircraft engines and parts. Not freight related, but do you post any listings for the stuff you're selling online? Not sure what that entire engine is worth, but I suspect the paint job alone is $1200 😂

Good luck, east coast is a rough market because most drivers just do not want to go there. Ya gotta make $ both ways to survive and time is money. Your going to pay at least $2 a mile on a good day, but likely more than that. One engine sold at $4000 going to MO, IL, WI, or around there ballpark $1400 - $1800 for shipping. (just my guess)
@northcentraltransfer185113 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, we don't run into Connecticut, or anywhere on the east coast for that matter, but you are correct about the brokers. They are turning into a bunch of thieves. LTL freight, which is what you use is the worst. They are upcharging everyone because about 8 out of 10 shippers will just pay it. Also, instead of paying it to the truckers, they pocket it. Lots of shady people out there now and they are getting rich off you and the truckers. Best advice I can give you is to find a small, local trucking company and talk directly to them. They will gladly work with you. Especially if they can find a couple more customers like you going out of Connecticut. I have a small fleet of 15 trucks in Minnesota.
@metalshaperJeep12 күн бұрын
It is amazing what is happening in the trucking industry. Brokers are the worst people I have ever dealt with and yes, LTL is a gamble these days. Still hoping to find some small, independent folks out there

Sorry you are having such trouble with shipping, seems like a lot of people are having trouble getting stuff shipped. This kinda crap is what really hurts the small business owner's like you. I hope you find somebody dependable to ship your stuff out. Anyone offering 1200$ for one of those engine's must not understand that you are do a professional job, not like some of these companies who sell a remanufactured engine that's lucky to last a year. You have the initial cost of the engine, parts, fluids, the overhead of the machinery you use to rebuild them, plus the time involved from start to finish. I would love to buy one of those f head engine's, but I'd have to sell some stuff to do that. I know anything you rebuild, is getting done with the best parts, and done right, to last a lifetime. G-d bless.
@metalshaperJeep12 күн бұрын
Shipping thieves are killing me these days, prices, adjustments, not showing up, etc.... all hurts small and large businesses. Most people have no idea what goes into a complete engine build. The parts, hours of precision work, overhead, payments on machines, consumables, etc.....Sadly the Jeep community is going to suffer when I stop doing what I do and there isn't another person to carry on the kind of work I do.
@died4us59012 күн бұрын
This is really sad to hear, so i hope that you can find a shipper, and people who can appreciate the quality of your work, and everything that goes into the kind of work you do. This economy is just kicking evryone, and everything costs so much more, but the quality isn't there. I would not want to be somebody raising kid's right now, because i don't see thing's getting any better. Hopefully we get somebody in office who wants to take care of this country, and stops all the waste and bs. Take care.

@@died4us590 Agreed, the world is upside down right now. I am also glad I don't have children..... couldn't imagine them trying to get thru the world the way it is these days. I am starting to raise more chickens and beef these days and will try to get that going more than the Jeep stuff so I can make and easy transition into another way of life. People have to eat so raising good farm fresh meat seems like a better way to earn a living compared to Jeep work.
