Beautiful! I always put my brushes on a plate with pure naphtha in between painting to keep them clean so I didn't have to throw them away :)
@Freakmo8 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea! I usually dip them in naptha and paper towel them in between, but I wouldn't want to risk a good brush just in case D: I can get away with using the same 'disposable' cheap brushes for a few applications then they get gunky and I start fresh.

you're honestly such an inspiration!! i really want to take a moulding workshop but none are offered where i live :(
@Freakmo8 жыл бұрын
Aw thank you! Same here, and moulding is something I have found super hard to learn to do. I found some locals who do it professionally who I became friends with who like to help me sometimes (modelmakers), and have made a lot of FX friends online who I can ask for help :) there's also lots of good forums on facebook where you can get feedback on pictures of sculpts or prep for moulds to make sure you're heading in the right direction. The internet makes living in isolated or small places much easier! :)

Did you use cap plastic that is dissolved with alcohol? If so how did you colour the prosthetic with alcohol paints? I really want to try this technique in moulding and painting but I'm not sure if I need acetone based cap plastic?

Amazing job!! I'm a special effects artist too and I'd love to start making prosthetics. Just a quick question... The picture you based this look on; what had happened to the person that had this wound? 😊
@Freakmo8 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! It's addictive, but also can be frustrating at first (practice helps so much). We found it on the figure 1. app which said they had a total knee replacement which got really badly infected (MRSA) so they had to take out the knee replacement parts and put on a skin graft, because the skin was dying.

I have very little lighter fluid left, can I dilute it further with acetone or ipa? My cap plastic is acetone based

We're do you get your products from?, because I'm also from Australia and I find it difficult to find products. 😊
@Freakmo8 жыл бұрын
I get most of my silicones and deadeners from Barnes, the shellite from Bunnings, and the Mouldlife silicone pigments from Scotty's Makeup and Beauty. But I'm going to try some smooth on products soon - silpoxy + novocs + oil paints as another way of painting silicone. I have a local smooth on supplier in Perth (Kirkside products) but the main smooth on supplier in Aus is in Adelaide - Rowe Trading. I know a lot of people also like using the silicone caulk you can get from Bunnings + shellite + oil paints for colour.

I really hope that someone around here can explain something to me. I am not a native speaker so it makes it difficult for me to understand everything I hear. Briefly and bluntly: She is using pigmented silicone to paint the wound, isn't she? Because that is what gives it that glossy effect, as I understand it (or what gives it that effect is the Deadener?). The next question would be: what is Naphta for and how much was it used for? The only thing I understood about this one is that it is toxic and it is recommended to wear a respirator :/ I thank you in advance for your help, you don't know how difficult it is to find information l ike this in my language :(
@kirpnat90764 жыл бұрын
Oh, btw, I heard something like the piece could come off if we wear latex gloves, why did she say that?
