Thank you for joining me on another episode of Learn.Paint.Fail.Repeat. This week we will be starting to paint the new Black Coach from Games Workshop. This model was sent in by Luis H. and his wife, they asked me to paint this for them as a reminder that even when things get tough in life, if you work through the struggle you will come out stronger on the other side!
if you happen to be painting a Black Coach and would like to share your work, use the hashtag #BlackcoachEMR on instagram and twitter. I will also be posting this on the EMR Facebook page so head on over and give it a like!

Great video and love how it came out. The story behind this model really hit home for me, as it kinda mirrors my experience in recent years. My models have helped me and my kids find an outlet, and almost peace, after losing my wife. It helped bring us together even closer than we already were and even talk about what armies and models she would like best. A lot of people look at me weird when I tell them I paint and play with little plastic army men, but they don’t understand just how much these things, and the community around them, can bring the best out in some folks. I can’t even tell you how much this lil hobby of ours has helped me. Thanks for the awesome video, as well as sharing that story.

Awesome so far. The owner's story touched me. I have had challenges in my life, and for me Space Marines have been a symbol of strength and endurance against all odds.

Hell yeah! Nice job. Its good to see people using pigments. Pigments seem to be an underutilized medium in this hobby.

Thanks :) I really like using pigments, it brings a nice bit of reality to these models,

Using failure as a learning point, a jumping off point, to try again on the next model, and the next :) I’m excited to finish this model up, it’s turning out better than I expected lol.

@@eBayMiniatureRescues Have you ever thought of a collaboration with other artists on a project like this? Say you do the coach another does the figure and the casket while yet another does the horses and specters. I think it would be an interesting end result!

What you said about turning mistakes into opportunities was really cool. I just accidentally painted the joints on a Dreadnought black instead of silver, but I was able to achieve the same nuln oil washed effect with a heavy drybrush of leadbelcher on top of the black. Sorry for the long comment I just wanted to share since I’m new and your channel was a big reason I got into the hobby just recently

Mistakes are an integral part of learning, that’s awesome you were able to work through it and find a good solution! I’m glad to be part of your journey in this hobby! Thanks for watching and commenting, keep up the painting :)

Same for me. I was working on a Necron Royal Warden, who has a skull on his base. A friend of mine told me "Wraithbone and Agrax Earthshade will give you a perfect bone color!" so I went with it. I bought a new bottle of Agrax, along with a few other paints I would need for much later. So I paint the skull Wraithbone, and grab a bottle of brown shade of my tablet. It came out wonderfully: perfect dirty bone color. Then later I went to paint some rumble, and grabbed my Agrax... and the pot was still sealed. Turns out I had grabbed the Seraphim Sepia.

Beautiful and inspiring. I have made many of mistakes in my journey but I can usually turn them around. This is no exception well done.

I came back to re-watch the technique on the curtains, it's amazing. Any chance we'd be able to get a video on glaze highlighting/wet-blending specifically?

Great video. Lots of next level techniques - very impressive. New intro is nice too. One item of note - the volume level of the music is significantly higher than your speech, so when you switch from talking to music it’s jarring.

I’m sure there’s a learning curve. By the 10 minute mark I’d either gotten used to it or effects you were creating off those initial steps had me too stunned to notice.

Great tutorial series here! Question on applying varnish to 'lock in' the dry pigments- do I need to be extra carful about overspray here? I'm wondering if there is any issue with adding paint over areas that have been varnished. Just want to be sure! Thank you!

Great vid as usual :). Question: how do you operate your airbrush when using inks? Any PSI recommendation? I really have trouble getting ink onto my models without blowing it all over the place (even on low PSI)...
@eBayMiniatureRescues
@eBayMiniatureRescues 5 жыл бұрын
I recommend something around 15psi. Just feather that trigger back and don’t spend too much time in one place, it takes a little practice to get the feel but you’ll get there in no time :)

I bought this miniature because I looks amazing but I've only been painting for 10 months and I'm afraid I'll mess it up. How do you get past the fear of painting something so large with lots of details?
