I usually use alcohol to strip models but this stuff is so much nicer to work with. I found a very similar ebay lot but it had some Goff boys too. Worked really well. Have you ever used it to strip metal minis ? I have some metal minis to strip but I am afraid to damage them .

I just found your channel; it'd be really easy to take a gimmick like "miniature rescue" and use it as an opportunity to ridicule the original painter, and probably in the thumbnail too. Instead you value the effort they made, how they likely got way better from doing this, and you even still try to follow the artistic vision they had! It's lovely to see. I don't even play or paint minis myself, but your positivity and passion are contagious! So you got a sub. It's great soothing/unwinding content.

But what did you use to strip the models?

You can think something is cool without liking it, like pretty much everyone would say cigarettes are cool, myself included, however, I don’t smoke cigarettes because I have bigger issues with them. That’s how I feel about space Marines, they are cool, but I don’t necessarily like them, because I have bigger issues with who they are. Doesn’t mean they ain’t cool though

New painter here, and you really did nail it on the head with always wanting to compare your work with someone else's. Thanks for the video and encouragement 😊

I remember painting Orion many years ago. The figure was on display at my local gaming store and was stolen. When I painted him I had the leaves on the bottom of his cape look like fall leaves to show the passing of the seasons. This one blows my paint job out of the water, but I did love my cape. I also have Ariel somewhere if you want to get them together.

6:00 Note, always use a basket. A freind of mine broke a ultrasonic machine because the mics are located under the bottom of the tub. The heavy jar weighed down the mics and they burned out.

I've been filtering snd reusing my LA Totally Awesome. It's still concentrated soap just with paint and glue particles. It's as black as the abyss but still works in my sonic cleaner and jars. I've been reusing 4 bottles for about a year, I buy and sell on ebay so I strip often, and haven't had a problem. Food for though and money in the bank.

"are space marines cool ?" weelllll ..... 1 if space marines were not cool, GW would not generally focus on them regarding lore and products. 2 if space marines were not cool, we as fans would not love them so much. 3 if space marines were not cool, there would not be peripheral products from other non-GW companies (statuettes, action figures, shirts, mugs, fan-made costumes, ect ect) So, yeah, space marines are cool. :D

I'm a year late to this, but as a new Warhammer player, but a lifelong artist, the advice you gave about just going for it is THE best art advice I've ever gotten, and give it to people constantly. I've seen folks new to drawing refuse to do something cause they think it's too hard for their skill level, but this mindset prevents you from taking risks which is often how you learn new techniques. refusing the challenge just kinda leads to you never learning how to do the thing you wanted to do
@Uratoh4211 күн бұрын
It is really impressive to see how well sculpted some older models were, but the more 'modern' miniatures painting techniques weren't there yet to really show them off. Orion still shows his age with the weird stipling fur, but overall he's a really impressive model for the era :o
@Mara99912 күн бұрын
That is really cool! Looking at Orion, I'm getting an idea to kitbash Wood Elves with Beastmen, to create Kurnothi from Warhammer Underworlds.

Looks like UHU glue to me. A lot of people would have had that kicking around the house for crafts and it would be pretty natural to assume it would be good for this if you didn't really have any experience with more specialist glues for more niche hobby/crafting purposes (superglue wasn't always as ubiquitously used as it is now).
@Renfield28613 күн бұрын
the glue that it was stuck together with appears to be UHU glue, there was a period during the 90s where certain folks would swear by it as an alternative to superglue for metal minis, the only problem is, it degrades and goes like rubber. that said, it's great for scenery, just not so much for models.

Very nice! This is one of the best looks for this old model that I've ever seen. Nice colours and execution!
@alexhulea273513 күн бұрын
i've seen that kind of glue before: it's a derivative of contact glue (the kind shoemakers use) used for large rasin surfaces that don't have to bear any load. It's garbage at glueing small surfaces, and once it fails to glue 2 surfaces, it taints the material (if it's resin or plastic i mean) making it almost impossible to glue with cyanoacryllate or plastic glue (depending on the material). I've never seen it used on metal minis.

@justcallmeharrison37713 күн бұрын
Honestly, the rubbery-ness of that old glue would be perfect for pokey bits of models like flags or banners so they bend, rather than snap.

So I saw someone (maybe mediocre hoboes) do a green knight a while back with a pistachio paint as the brightest green and i think it could look really great as a slightly less yellow alternative to the bright green your using.
@eBayMiniatureRescues12 күн бұрын
Pistachio would be a good alternative; it is much lighter and more desaturated. I painted a Warlord Titan with Duck Egg green, that's similar, very nice color.
