I thought it was just me when i had trouble with the Corax white. I'm glad it's not just me. I had trouble making this interesting as well. I was a coward and couldn't bring myself to do the recesses as dark as you but I wish I did. I love the effect you got with that technique.

You can use acrylic artist white paint instead of corax white

Corax white is one of the worst paints I've ever used. It's like trying to paint with toothpaste.

There is one at my local store that the pigment has separated into a solid block sitting in the medium

Monument hobbies bold titanium white is pretty good

You could have painted the sides of her head/face where the is no veil

I was really happy with how mine turned out. I base coated almost the whole model with a dark greyish blue before drybrushing on an almost white grey tone. Then i did some highlights in pure white. After that i washed and dabbed a medium greyish blue before doing the blood on her front. The blue gives her a really nice ghostly effect that contrasts really well with the blood.
