I'm preparing the Farmall 856 for paint. In this video, I show the types of paint I've used on past tractor projects, the pros and cons of each type, and how I prep the tractor for painting. As a bonus, I am smoking beef brisket on the Weber grill today!

My dad & I started buying old tractors out of barns, tree rows, ditches & just about anywhere... We'd get what we could running & sell it . I realized that at one point most farms had a tractor or two that stopped working & simply were parked because they didnt know how to fix them.. Most often very little was wrong with them & for those that had serious problems we parted them out .. My dad & I enjoyed it & no one was happier than my mother . It got my dad out of the house & my dad was not easy to be around growing up.. In fact I avoided him because he was hateful & never failed to criticize.. But he taught me about things at every opportunity . He's 85 yrs old today & Im near retirement . My son works with me now that he finished college and we love it .. The biggest difference between my father & myself is that I could'nt wait to leave home & my son used to ask me if he "had" to leave home .. I told my son he was always welcome , but that he would want to leave home at some point . The one thing that kind of healed my relationship with my dad was oddly enough , tractors . I still remember certain ones that we got running & the thrill we both felt after pulling an old tractor outta the brush & making it useful again..

Keep the channel just the way it is. I was raised on a brand new Farmall "H', as a kid, on a dairy farm in upper Pennsylvania. My dad loved that tractor. Since then, my dad has passed to be with God and all of his friends. But, the "H" Farmall has been totally restored and is stored in a climate controlled building along with our 550 and 560 Cockshutts, 190 Allis-Chalmers, and last but not least, both Ford 8n and 9n. All have been restored. Thank you for the videos. I love watching them. Keep up the great work and don't forget to enjoy life. God bless you both.

Pete, I have been swamped working for a bit and am running behind on your videos. Now trying to play catch-up, and have quite a few of the tractor rebuilds to view. Saw this one this morning and had to take a break (at work) to watch it. Not having seen the last video, but listening to you comments, I will interject my 2 cents worth. One of the main pleasures of your channel is the diversity of subject matter. Your family, your family business, and your love of machinery and your sharing ALL of them is what I find as the main reason that I look forward to any new posts that you offer. Of course, your personality, Hillary, and your family also are major contributors. So will close by asking, leave well enough alone and thank you for sharing yourself and your family with the 437K viewers. It is a pleasure to see all of you when available. Take care and stay safe.

Pete, I say do you. Do not worry about the comments of this channel. Only the positives. It's impossible to please people on the internet, Just know with every upload you have a loving, caring, and loyal fanbase. Regardless of what you upload that it will always be there and continue to grow. I've noticed over the years how the bad comments have some what gotten to you a bit. For every 10 people who love you there will always be a negative Nancy. Focus on the good and let the bad slip through the cracks. I have loved this channel from the start and always will. I wish I could help with any negativity that comes your way because it is so ridiculous you even get a single person to do so. Your channel reaches out to many and we all LOVE ya'll. Maybe stop reading our comments. It could help the process. Do what you love to do, and we will always be here.

Just a Few Acres Farm channel, informative, Instructional, as well as just fun to watch... the direction of the channel is perfect, life on a farm.... Greeat!!!! Don't change your format.. your choice to cease the Hog Breeding Operation is understood, raising feeder Pigs, will be probably more profitable, providing you can find a reliable source of weaner pigs.. you did it with the chicks, you will do it with the pigs to... the expense & issues with breeder stock is indeed a major expense.... just remember, 'Steady she goes MATE'

Pete, I wouldn't change a thing !! As someone raised on farms in eastern Indiana, a Diesel / Heavy Equipment mechanic of over 37 years, and now Training and Technical Support Specialist for a large heavy equipment company in Ohio, I have seen the change in how kids are taught (or Lack Of) in schools and at home. Any time you can break down the basics most people can better understand the more Technical, and the way you do that is excellent when it comes to the tractors. And even though most people probably watch your videos for the Tractor stuff, I especially like how you break it up and show that you have to take care of the "Not so Fun Stuff" before you can do the things you really enjoy doing. Excellent channel, keep it the same, and I'm going back to using the old Weber.....

After watching the channels that I watch, even though I've never personally met any of them; you begin to feel like you're friends. People with similar lifestyles or interests and people doing things I do or want to do. Also having channels run by people with similar views on life is rather refreshing. It's nice to have your channel to watch Pete. You're not always in a rush or talking a million miles an hour. It doesn't matter if most of a video doesn't particularly pique my interest. I'll watch them anyway just because you throw life into them. You never know what little tidbit you might have to say. Keep up the videos just the way you have been doing them

Been drawn to your videos because of your passion. Found your channel while trying to show my kids videos of cutting hay to explain what I did as a teenager. I grew up doing farm work, and working on the equipment that goes with it. I am so grateful for the work you put into the details you include in your videos on the tractor series. I love the animal videos as well. I have the Super C Farmall that I learned to drive on. Someday your Super C video series will be a useful series for me to revisit. Dad passed of complications from Covid in 2021. He had taken apart a 706 that had lost its reverse gear. I have taken interest in the 806-transmission series because of that. Dad's old tractor will hopefully be one of my future projects. Also priceless to learn of your sources for parts, tips, explanation of the workings of each system, and your homemade tools. I look forward to every video you post. Take your time, never feel like you are obligated to get a video out, and we will all be here when you get around to it! What a great channel!

People LOVE dogs, and they tend to become the stars of the channel. Ya got the barn cat, but he only follows you when you happen to be where he is. Always enjoy your videos, whether they be the mechanical ones, or the farming process ones, or the hang with the critters ones, even the world according to Pete ones. Pete: I to enjoy all aspects of your channel. I am not mechanical at all, but love old tractors. I enjoy you breaking them apart and explaining the "what & why", and "how-to". The explinations of what each component does and how it functions is great! Very educational! It makes me want to go get my uncles Farmall 230-WF and tear it apart... Your finished work is some of the best detailed work I've seen. I go to a lot of tractor shows and auctions. Then, the fact that you work your tractors on your farm, and don't just keep them for show,... That's even better! You do not need a second channel. I love the farm videos too. The seasonal mix is good. Farm work, Shop work. Just make your content. Do you!, and allow the viewers to decide what they want to see from you. Don't sweat the YT numbers. I’m planning on moving onto a 10 acre property in the next few years. I bought a 1962 Farmall 140 which will need to be restored within the next 5yrs or so. The reality is that the way of life that you live and I will live does not separate the farm part from the mechanic part. It’s all one life, and the fact that it’s on one channel gives a much more accurate insight into your way of life. And if nothing else, I appreciate that.

I could tell this video was a little different in structure, and I think it's a good mixture of Mechanical detail, some animal interaction , and humor. Nice job!

I like the tweak in the format to see the restoration sprinkled with cooking and time with Hilarie.

Pete keep up the great videos. I'd watch you and Hilary if you were sitting on buckets counting stones in driveway ❤.

Pete, I just wanted to let you know, that the MD restoration, just blew me away. I still think it’s the most beautiful tractor, that I have ever seen. I understand about selecting the correct color, for the correct tractor, but I love the color of the MD. You use all of your tractors on the farm, so I think it’s not so important, to get the correct color of paint. Just use that beautiful, MD color and the tractor, that you are working on, will be gorgeous! I can hardly wait to see your current project painted and finished. Thanks to you and Hillary for all of your hard work and for bringing us all, great content. Stay safe and keep them coming. 👍❤️🙏

I spent my whole life working in the city, and now retired. I'm now in the country and just started tearing down a Ford Jubilee, this is because of enjoying watching you Pete! Thank you. I've never done anything like this but the details you share give me the confidence to try. Again thank you.

Hey, Pete. Another awesome video. My Sundays wouldn't be the same without one of your great videos. I'm sure that I'm not just speaking for myself, but your videos are very educational and chock-full of some great philosophical tid bits. Keep up the good work. Can't wait till next Sunday. Thank you and Hillary. Have a great week.

Pete we enjoy your videos with our coffee in the morning. Your attention to the details is what makes the difference. Patience, knowledge and time are the key elements for a great restoration. Looking forward to watching your videos on the cleaning and painting of this tractor. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your brisket. I use our Sous Vide a lot.
