Thank you for showing me how to draw and painting tree with branch because I forgot how to draw branches on one big trunks of trees because I had 5 separate heart attacks ( AFIB) in 2 months thru late winter as I am forgetfully or couldn’t remember how to draw or paint because of heart pills so it likes that I have to go back how to do these but I am fighting with getting back with my memories My dr said that If I keep trying to go back to normal then I will be alright soon I keep praying to our good Lord To heal me in time I sure love to paint I hope that you don’t mind to practice by looking at your lovely painting pictures Pls let me know it it is okay with you God bless you Thank you. You are a very good teacher and I love the way you paint the branches. I usually thin the paint with water like ink and paint, but it does not come as smooth as yours. A while ago I bought a "slow dry blending gel" but never used it. Can I use it in replacement of a thinner? Thank you so much for this tutorial

Not sure what medium you are using. I am using oil paint in this tutorial, so you can use thinner with oils. If you are using WMO, you can use water, or WMO thinner or WMO linseed oil. If you are using acrylic paint, use slow dry medium or water. I hope that clears it up for you.

@@chelvis8114 If the paint is still too thick when using just the medium, then add a little water with it too. Not too much though, you don't want the paint to run uncontrollably.

When I try this I seem to just pull paint off the canvas onto my brush, is my paint to thick still? This looks amazing!! Thanks for the tips!!

I would guess that may be the problem HossierDaddy! When you thin your paint with thinner, it should be almost as thin as ink. If you tilted your palette it would probably run. It could also be that maybe you are pressing too hard. Try lightening your touch, and thinning your paint, and let me know what happens.

@@PaintingWithYovette I actually just finished a picture and it didn’t matter how thin the paint was it kept moving the paint I laid down already instead of painting the limbs, I ended up darkening the tree with my palette knife, I’m sure it takes practice, I just started painting 6 months ago with no prior experience, thank you for the reply, I love your art!!

I like how the brush stays pointy, I have a bob ross liner brush and I am having a hard time keeping it pointy all the way. Any recommendations? Thank you Yovette

Yes Christopher, I think I have two suggestions. When you load the brush you need to twirl it to a fine point as you drag it through the paint. Watch the video closely. The other thing is the paint needs to be extremely thin, almost like ink. If the paint is too thick, it will never make nice slender branches. Try those two things and see if it helps. Let me know. @@christophegerard952 Did that help your brushes? I’ve heard, (don’t know if it is true) you can boil some water on the stove. Once it starts to boil, dip your brush in the boiling water a couple of times and take your fingers and shape the brush and let it dry like that. It should help older brushes. Let me know if it helped you?

I am happy you found me! For doing tree branches, I am just using thinner, and making it almost like an ink consistency. Very watery. That way the paint will easily flow off the brush and make finer lines. Hope that helps you.
