Nice sea scape, it's a little complicate dealing with Acrylic, but it really does the job, I'm painting with acrylic also and sometimes I have to paint up to three layers of colors to achieve my master piece. 👍🎨🖼

Thank you Frank!! Yes, with acrylics you work in multiple layers, that’s what makes it special. you can add many layers quickly without having to worry like you do with oils!

Hello Gebahi, Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial and painting. Just a note to say, sorry commentators, that it is clear that you paint from within your feelings, as most artists, despite being inspired by a photo, so please do not take any notice of viewers asking for more of this or that. You show the photo once and this is perfect thank you. You give so much and more, with a very responsible and stressful career, without more demands. May I ask if you ever paint on larger canvases? Many thanks as always. Xx🤗

Great demonstration video with excellent instruction for your viewers. I basically would approach it with similar palette, steps and techniques (including the dry brush as well as your fingers). An important tip to use more muted colours next to brighter highlights. Also a good tip not to be a slave to the photo. I think viewers would like to see you using glazing techniques.

Absolutely 💯 thank you sooo much i am definitely excited to paint waves now 😀 your tutorial was spot on would have liked to see the reference photo maybe 1or 2 more times at the beginning when you were setting down your different colours and that would help a little with recognizeing what are darks or shadows ect but saying this if the reference was show more than this it would have been distracting for sure i really enjoyed the whole process. very interesting discovering the use of white in your yellow this will really help me !
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Trish!! Yes, I didn’t want to put the reference photo out there too much because it would become a distraction between trying to focus on the painting itself and trying to focus on the details of the reference. Plus there isn’t much real estate on the screen !

First, I love your style and especially love your seascapes. I really appreciate watching your techniques. At one point (30:48), you mentioned in this video that you could blend a lot easier in oils, which is def true because of the short drying time with acrylics. Do you ever use your mister bottle on the canvas, too, to aid in blending? I've seen a couple of KZbinrs who suggest it in order to mimic painting in oils. I also know one must be very careful not to overdo that and avoid drips. What are your thoughts?
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks 2 ай бұрын
Thank you very much Tony!! I do use a mister, but not on the canvas directly because you’re asking for trouble! I damp my brush and then dip into the paint to make the paint spread easier. If you mist the canvas directly you’ll run into trouble because you don’t know which part of the painting is fully dry and which parts are semi dry. And then when you run your brush over the misted parts you risk lifting the bottom layer because it will get rehydrated causing spots everywhere! Most the canvas only if it’s full dry!

Karim, you said these were heavy body acrylics. I am not familiar with the brand, Tri-Art. How do you like them compared to other heavy body acrylics you have used? Also how do you feel using canvas vs canvas board for acrylics? Thanks, Kathy

Good question! They are made In Canada but are distributed in the US, and in my humble opinion they are right up there with Golden, if not better! I was really impressed! What I’ve using lately is Golden fluid acrylics and they’ve been a real joy. They spread so well (obviously), but are well pigmented as well! I use them for larger paintings or when I want to blend. As far as canvases go, both are good. I started with canvas panels initially but moved on to stretched canvases! I may transfer back over, not sure yet!

Hi Karim So good to see u after long, I hope u and ur family is doing great. I'm looking forward to start with acrylic after fearing it for a long time as my first time turned out to be a disaster tbh. Even uk that I'm more involved with pastels so it's really difficult to cope up to both but I'm going to try it. Do u have any suggestions on how to keep em wet? They usually dry up very quickly nd doesn't give me enough time to mix nd apply another color which is perhaps one of the reasons I feared. Anyways this video was lovely. Love from India ❤️ Anish
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks 2 жыл бұрын
Don’t fear the acrylics, it’s just like watercolor except permanent, Lol!! Look, you have to start somewhere, I wish I had an old painting to make you feel better about your situation. Like all things, it’s takes time and practice! To keep them wet I mist them from time to time. Or you can use a wet napkin, fold it, dunk it in water, and remove the excess. Then you lay your acrylics on top and that will last you an entire painting session easily! Or buy a StayWet palette from Masterson (it’s the best one!). Masterson StayWet Palette. Jerry’s artarama, or even Dick Blicks will have it! Best regards!! Cheers!!
