To those who are complaining about the speed : KZbin allows you - Fast Forward with double tap on screen. - You can increase the play time within the option on right corner of the video. She made it live - so that we can see each step ,each stroke,each blend. ( Kudos for that & thank you) Appreciate do not demotivate!!

Love the video, but would appreciate knowing what size brushes were used. Beautiful finish…
@BMJArt4 жыл бұрын
Hello. Thank you for the lovely comment. Since it is a smaller surface I use smaller brushes. Flat is 6,round 4. But any size you have is ok,you just need to adjust to the size of your surface. For bigger I use 10 and 12 flat and a 8 round not bigger than that because it is harder to get thin lines, sometimes a liner brush is handy. Hope I helped a little.

Ok, first off: This looks amazing, and thank you so much for sharing how to create a wooden texture like this. Then, I wanted to ask if the little white-ish bits are a result of a highlight from a light source (if this was in a full composition) or is it just a light part of the wood? Thank you!
@BMJArt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and glad I could help. White-ish parts are mostly from naples-yellow deep and white, thin lines, dry brushing. You can see me put in in 15:35

Great inspiration! I tried to follow your steps, but fucked it a little up when it came to the slim yellow-white stripes. Though I managed to be quite happy with the result after repeating the steps again and again on the same canvas about 4 times :D Thanks a lot

Is it gonna give the same look on cardboard? I've painted cardboards but they appear really dull and matte after the paint dries out.
@BMJArt5 жыл бұрын
Usually acrylics dry darker. So you have to have light background and when mixing colours always make a little lighter tone. I use gesso to prime my canvases. You can try it on cardboard to.

No matter what species of wood, I will be painting a cedar ceiling in a photo that has been varnished, would I start with the darkest color in the wood for the base color?
@BMJArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi. You said that you have varnished painting, not sure if paint will stick to the surface, you can try on a small piece and see. If you are working with acrylic paint, yes. Start from dark and go to light but again try first on a small part of the painting and see how paint will react. Also not sure, if you are going to varnish it again that the new layers of paint will not peal off the painting after some time, depending on what kind of varnish was used first, matt, glossy, in thick layer or with spray.

Did you let the paint dry between applications? Or was a medium used.
@BMJArt5 жыл бұрын
Acrylics do dry fast, but if you make your brush wet with water and take paint then they will dry slower. You have to paint wet on wet to get this look, and so you can blend colours easier. I do not use any medium, only watter.
