You can do something similar for ultramarines too. I use - Basecoat of Macragge Blue All over wash of Drakenhof Nightshade Fairly heavy drybrush of Russ Grey Lighter drybrush of Chronus Blue All over wash of Guilliman Blue This gives them a really deep rich blue colour to the armour, and the dry brushing also gives even more depth to the model. Then if you want to go to town you can do the usual highlights of Edge highlight in Calgar Blue Final edge highlight in Fenrisian Grey
@D00M3R-SK85 жыл бұрын
I think dry brushing looks horrid on armour plating. used to look good on the torso's of the old plague marines as they had that kind of detail where dry brushing works. any kind of flat area though, no dry brushing as it just looks dusty to me. I know some people like that look and then I guess it's just down to personal taste, but i tend to keep dry brushing for stuff like imperial guard tanks and fur capes, rocks on bases and that kind of thing. anything that is textured basically.

I was messing around with some test models and found that casadora yellow all over a yriel yellow basecoat looks really good. You could leave it there if you wanted to go fast, it does the recess shading and glazing all in one go. You can glaze the flat panels with some yriel yellow and flash gitz yellow to brighten them up if you fancy, and shade the deepest panel lines with scrag brown, then doombull brown for added contrast. Then do your edge-highlighting with dorn yellow.
@Zilegil5 жыл бұрын
For my orks I use flash gitz yellow, a few light coats of seraphim sepia. I coat it like you said you shouldn’t, as that give a dirty effect Then I use a bright orange to pick out scratches then finish the scratches with runefang steel The sepia and scratches make it a lot murkier and dirtier than yours, but it’s pretty quick and full of detail Although I’m definitely gonna steal the glaze tip for my meganobs. They’z gotta keep their armour shiny

You can pretty much make Lamenters Yellow using Vallejo Game Ink Amarillo Yellow 72.085 and diluting it with Lahmian Medium in a 1:3 ratio; so 1 part ink, 3 parts medium. I like the resulting glaze to be fairly thin, but you can even go a bit thicker at a 1:2 ratio. Edit: I’ve seen used before and it works well it to highlight with a bone then glaze because it makes a bit yellower and it easy to touch up before the glaze.

Sucks I saw this so late now glazes are discontinued. I find that Averland sunset, then shading, and then a couple of layers of yriel yellow makes very good IF yellow, sadly it takes a lot of time for every marine. Contrast doesn't work out for me as it pools so much, I can't get it to behave.
