This is such a fantastic vid - also this pair, for a third or fourth outing look superb! They look as if they have rowed together for a couple of years. So much of what you discuss in this vid is what my pairs partner and I have discussed over the three outings he and I have had to date. Your preference for accuracy and precision at the catch over speed rings true for me, as does the idea of moving the boat past the blade rather than powering the blade through the water. So much food for thought - love it! (Also, please could you review the final of this year's Silver Goblets & Nickalls Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. The Dutch pair of Van Sprang and Krommenhoek won [spoiler!😄] but did so with two very different rowing styles. I would be interested in your analysis of how two contrasting styles can be so effective). Thank you.

Your point on shoulder and lat pre-tensioning is very similar to taking the strain in readiness to deadlift. Spot on, in my humble opinion!

Hi Aram, I have two questions on hands position and the bending of the inner arm at sweep rowing. To me, it seems that these rowers keep their hands fairly close together. That’s the way I like to row too, almost like sculling. Wat’s the ideal hands position in sweep rowing in your opinion? Also, how much would you bent your inner arm at the catch and what’s the difference in pulling/hanging power between the two arms at the catch? Is it so that the outer arm pretty much does most of the work?

Dear Aram, I stare your Thechn8cal Pholosophy, but personalmente I prefer to have the SPEED BOAT as a PRIORITY. Let me explain better if you have 2 Athletes withl an Ergo 2 km ERGO of 6:00 minute, You have to "SEARCH" for they MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY IN WATER!! YOU DON'T DO ALWAYS GET IT with PERFECT TECHIQUE! Also because every Athletes has HIS OWN STYLE!!! , correcting it CAN ALSO STOP IT and SPEED BOAT. I would like to SEE this APPLICATION in one your ANALYSIS : RACE 2+ M HUN SARASOTA 2017 ( BELA, ADRIAN , VANDA COX) .... In the last 500m 1:37 or 1:38 ....with last 150m 1:31 !!! I believe the FASTEST 500m in the HISTORY of 2+ M.... I'd like to SEE YOUR ANALYSIS LAST 150M.... Thanks Eros (Head Coach HUN 2015 2018)

Yes Eros. I agree. There exceptionally fast crews who create the appearance of ineffective technique. Personally I find, however, when looking closely they are more effective than others. Unfortunately I cannot analyse Fisa footage.
