Nice short video. I'm probably going to do this the cheap way - disconnect the hoses and use rubber caps on the covers and the air box, leave the solenoid plugged in. This is fine to do on a stock exhaust bike because the PAIR system is really only active at low RPMs. Removing it should help smooth out low-speed power delivery.

Hello from Greece i am mechanic and i do now a service on a suzuki bandit s 650 wich has this valve.The motorcycle has only a KN air filter and after market exhaust,after we put the KN on the bike the back starts to not run normaly at 4.500-5.500 RPM.There is a posibity to do this problem cause of this valve thank you very much keep doing great jobs!! And i want you to tell me if the map mass air sensor can do this problem,you know i put the aftermarket air filter on and i thought that now more air go through the intake the map mass air sensor read this and modifies the air/fuel ratio with the 02 sensor ofc.Sorry for my English and again keep doing great jobs,again hello for Greece to everyone!!

Great one! Just wondering, if my cb919 has the stock exhaust, does pair valve mod & flapper mod still work? Or it only works for with aftermarket exhaust? Please let me know. Thank you.

great video, please help, i've removed my servo on my cbf1000, yes its popping and i bit lumpy, can you tell me what the coil actually does, i thought that gave the signal to the servo, i've put a servo illuminator on the bike, but do i also have to get the bike retuned once i've done this, thank you.

Euro 3 standards are making small displacement bikes loose power.. the new TMX Supremo.. with its really lean tuned carburetor, restrictive exhaust, and a PAIR System only makes about 10hp. that's a 150cc bike with a power of a good 115cc underbone. and thanks to its 150cc carbureted engine it consumes gas like a 150cc bike. it barely exceeds 35km per liter.

Jasper Domacena yup. sign of the times. Im all for it on workhorses and dailies where you want efficiency and cleaner emissions. Lets save the performance tuning for our werkend sporting machines, be it smallbore or big displacement 😉.

I have a question. Did your FI light come on when you removed the solenoid electrical connection? The driven block off plates warns against it. Thank you.
@PAbrera1
@PAbrera1 3 жыл бұрын
No, not on a bike this old. The electronics arent sophisticated enough to take issue with it. Newer bikes will give you a check engine code of some kind if it cant find the solenoid.

So put the reed valves back in with the block off plates? Will this do anything bad. I'm assuming to do this just so you don't have metal on metal.
@PAbrera1
@PAbrera1 4 жыл бұрын
koofdome yes, for these block-off plates which have a tecess for the reed valves and screw heads, the reed valves go back on under the block-off plates untouched. You want the rubber gaskets that are on the reed valve to be sandwiched between the block-off plate and the pair valve seats on the cylinder head so you get a good clean seal.

So I have a question I need help with. I did the removal, but you know the solenoid(?) You had a plug that you unplugged. Do you have to plug anything back into it? If not, then Can you just strip that wiring for That plug out of the wire harness and the bike still start? I have an 09 Honda CBR600rr , the process for this was very similar to yours. But bike has this deal that when I unplug some stuff the bike won't start. Like the kickstand, or steering dampener. So you have to look the wiring back into the harness yourself to fool the bike into thinking these parts are still connected. Or buy premade little plug in parts that'll do that for you, for example "Servo buddy" part. I am converting my bike into a track only race bike so trying to remove as much stuff as possible, but having issues figuring out what can be completely stripped out of the wiring harness and what can't. A lot of the information out there isn't very clear.

Justin Cavinder hey justin, thanks for tuning in. My cb900 is blissfully low tech, and didnt have the issue youre describing. I would assume the ‘09 cbr has got a bit more electronics onboard. Honestly i’d be guessing if i were to give you advice on your question 😅 i will say this tho, im gona be installing block off plates on my 2017 xsr900 and i will unhook the solenoid from the pair valves on that, and install the block off plates coz im getting a lot of popping off throttle. However i will not disconnect the electrical connection to the solenoid because its a known issue that you get a “check engine” light if the ECU doesnt detect the pair valve solenoid there. Its a small, light part and wont cause too much clutter zip-tied off to the side. If youre not too OCD about “clutter”, that could be the way to go for your cbr too. Too much electronics onboard newer bikes, getting harder and harder to fool the onboard computers 🙄

Paolo Abrera there is absolutely a ton of electronics on board and not enough information out there. I haven't even been to the tracks yet to meet experienced people that I could ask for help. So I definitely appreciate your input and quick response. I dont think I'll be trying to remove the whole thing just yet, might have to run some tests before doing anything permanent.

@@PAbrera1 well you would think so, but many guys who have been in the sport for awhile know to stay away from Cbr600rr. Honda has killed support for the cbr600rr. Basically the only support you can get for it Is Ten Kate Racing but they are out of Europe. I knew this before hand too, but I always wanted the cbr600rr so I went with it anyways and now I am kind of regretting it. If I had to choose again I would go with R6 or Ninja 600 or 636.

sir Paolo, would I need to do a remapping of my ECU if I block my PAIR valves?
@PAbrera1
@PAbrera1 4 жыл бұрын
You use block offs/disable pair valve to reduce “popping” when you use a free-flow exhaust. If you change exhaust, you will get the most performance gains with a re-map. If all you want to schoeve with different exhaust is good looks and louder sound, no need to re-map 😉

This does reduce the amount of backfire. Sometimes completely removes it. It has no effect on engine performance. Only performance gain is a slight weight reduction. Everyone loves the pops and bangs right?
