Pairing Optimizers to Solaredge HD-Wave Inverters

Awesome video! I just had my roof replaced and after the panels were reinstalled, I had 20 of 43 not producing on the Solaredge app. I called the installers and they came back and verified physical voltage on all 3 strings, then restarted my inverters. After the restart, there were still 14 panels that showed 0 production. I just followed your instructions from this video and watched all 43 panels come back online.

I followed your advice in the video and it worked my nine panels are now working before it said 5/5. However, It shows Pac (W) 0.0 and its been one hour. Thoughts?

I am starting to forget, i think there is a minimum number of panel on a string. I believe the minimum panels is 8 or 9? Pls research it.

I’ve had replace 3 optimisers since installation 3 years ago. When I look at my system layout on line I’ve 22 panel however 2 of the panels have the same serial number which can’t be right. If I repair the optimisers as you’ve stated do you think it will sort the problem out.

Hey dude: Yes I have some problems with the solar system it show on display NO-POWERAnd also I download the app for solar system so I can show how much am power producing. It is supposed show NIGHT MODE all the time, Could you tell me turn or use night mode only at night. Oh it was working great when we got it in installed at our home & we haven't have any problems with it? So I how you can HELP me out or I need to call the guys who installed the system to get it back working again okAm calling from Houston Tx

If you had a system in operation for some time and wanted to add 3 or 4 more panels, would you go through the same procedure to recognize and add the additional panels?

yes, everytime you make changes (adding / replacing) you need to re-do the entire pairing process again.

It is tough to get the optimizers to pair on a cloudy day, it takes a lot longer. Do it on a sunny day if possible.

No, if you are reading instruction about scanning QR code / barcode, you are probably using the newer inverter which does not have LCD screen and buttons. You have to use SolarEdge's SetApp for that which require scanning QR code using your mobile phone.

No, pairing can not be done at night, because optimizers need to have reasonable power to perform pairing procedure. Second reason is, at night, solaredge inverter will enter night mode.

@@DIYGEEKTEXAS my inverter triped but when i was able to fix it, the sun was almost gone so the solaredge counted 20/21 panels. You think this was from the low light/solar situation? Should I resynchronize it? Or will it recount when yue sun is up?

​@@pticman The count of 21 must be from the pairing process. After pairing the inverter goes back to regular operation (day mode) and it will start activating the optimizers one by one, but it only activated 20 out of 21 it identify during the pairing / string identification. Yes, you are right, this can be caused by a solar panel being shaded or out of sun light. Do you have your system connected to solaredge monitoring? if so, you can easily identify which panel is not producing from monitoring system.

Hi @@edgarr6828 I did not. But turns out that this mode is displayed when there is an issue in the system. You will need someone to troubleshoot your system.

The Power green LED usually blinks when the inverter is in a cycle of 'trying' to wake up. Basically the inverter keeps detecting if there is enough power to start generating. So it keeps going through this cycle trying over and over again. The power led will be solid green when the inverter is fully operational (generating power). And it will be off during night mode.

I think solaredge are still the best inverters on the market, especially their HD-WAVE series. The HD-Wave series are the most efficient inverter still to date. Their monitoring software / platform (free) is also the BEST! I will have to add another inverter soon, I will make a review video for sure. Something is wrong with your DC voltage, my DC voltage usually hovers around 340 - 370v. Your more than double. May be you have the input of your strings in series? I am not sure. You have 13 solar panels all in one string?

@@DIYGEEKTEXAS when i wire them in parallel my voltage is around 400v but the amps r high, when i wire in series i get 780v and amps r low. I talked to solaredge technician yesterday and explained everything i did and what the status was and he said everything seemed good and it detected all optimizers but even he doesnt know why it's not producing power and that i should connect internet to the inverter so they could check online to see what's wrong with it.

@@EVILalwaysDIES Hmm I did not know if 780v DC will be acceptable and can work to generate AC power. If it does work, please let me know that is interesting. Regarding generating power... I have both the old 7600 inverter with LCD and buttons and the newer ones without any LCD or button. I believe the newer one without LCD and button must be provisioned through the app before it will generate AC power. But you probably have the old one because you are able to know what your DC voltages are. What are your LED lights showing? Any RED led light showing error?

@@DIYGEEKTEXAS i figured out the problem. Mine is a commercial set up, not residential so i needed 15-16 optimizers minimum for it to start producing power.
