Because there are lots of brands to choose from within those categories. It would take a lot. Specially for aftermarket builds.

I loved the infinity speakers in the 90's: had a set of kappas that were beautiful. Today.... does ANY speaker manufacturer give a rip about mid range? Having a hard time finding 6x9's that don't try to pretend to be a sub....

Alan, I have an Axxera AVM111NAVLH on our motorhome and they used a super low quality speakers at the factory. I love the head unit and wonder if it is even worth to replace the speakers. Should I consider adding a amplifier? This unit runs on 4ohms and max power output is only 16 Watts RMS. I don't need anything loud, but I am looking for quality instead. I thought on adding the amplifier so I can have the capability to add a small sub-woofer, but don't know the best way to match all that so it will be a good combined system to work with the Axxera head unit. Any suggestion?

This vid is old, but new to me. High sensitivity speakers, to me, always seem to have this annoying screeching noise to them that is interspersed into the music; like a shrill sound, especially if the sensitivity is too high. I don't know how high is too high, but it seems like somewhere around 92-93+. OEM speakers a lot of times have high sensitivities to get a lot sound from little power. This results in the screeching sound I'm talking about. My 2017 Acura has the same thing--system sounds good for OEM, could sound better for the money, and has sensitivity that is high, leading to screech sounds on some songs, and difficult to listen to, even at low volume because it is shrill. The lower sensitivity speakers need more power for the same SPL/db output, but they sound different too, more like a somewhat baffled sound, if the sensitivity is too low, or restrained loudness in some applications. So, I wouldn't just automatically rec. high sensitivity speakers.

Do I need to upgrade my battery and alternator? I'm workin on the sound system in my 02 ram 1500, I have a Kenwood kdc-bt765hd head unit, Kenwood kfc-p709ps 6.5 components up front and kicker 5.25 coax in the back powered by a Kenwood 640W 4-channel (power and ground are 8 gauge I think), and a Memphis m6 12" 4+4ohm sub powered by a boss audio 1500W mono (doesn't put out anywhere near that)(power and ground are 4 gauge). Upgraded alt. and bat. wire to 2 gauge but forgot to upgrade engine ground. I feel like I need to upgrade my bat. and alt. Also, what amp would you recommend for the Memphis? Looking to put a Nexus 7 in my dash with a DAC and an Alpine Power Pack. I currently have pioneer 4x6's for the front and will be setting a HPF since they try to put out what they can't. In this case, I'll be putting Polk DB691's in for my rear speakers which will go down to 35hz nicely, and my sub will do the rest. Will a power pack do enough to power these monster 6x9s on the mid bass or should I look at getting something else?

+Gnik4144 A quick and dirty way to find ballpark wattage... amp fuse size x 12v x 0.6 (average efficiency for a/b class amp) an example 30 amp fuse would be 30x12x0.6=216 watts. Some brands use higher amperage than needed or even redundant fuses to make it look like there is more power than there really is being produced. If you have a class D amp use 0.8 instead of 0.6

Screw the wattage! Only idiots care about that. What about replacing a stock 8-ohm speaker with an aftermarket 4-ohm used with a mid-level stock system? Stock systems these days are actually pretty decent and many people don't want to devalue their car by butchering up their dash with an unnecessary aftermarket. All it needs is better speakers...

You’re right if you have a 4 ohm system and go to an 8 ohm speaker you’re going to be disappointed. But if you go to a 2 ohm speaker on a 4 ohm system you’re going to overtax the amplifier.
