Dear Moazzam, The English Rulers played a major & decisive role ie eighty percent in division of subcontinent because of their dirty political interests & role/ consperacy of Jinnah & his muslim league in this dirty division was only twenty percent. The English Rulers wanted to create a strong wall or opposition to growing influence of communism of Soviet Union in the regeion & were quite worried about Nehruji's independent thinking or idealogy & also his leaning towards socialism. PM Nehru ji immediately introduced land reforms in 1952 & amalgamated five hundred fifty one princely states in India & gave annual privy purses to the princes. This practice of giving annual privy purses to princes was later abolished by PM Indira Gandhi during 1968. There is no Jagirdari system in whole India. Direct Action Call & its consequences from 16th August to 22nd August 1946 by Jinnah was too carried out with full conscent of The English Rulers in which ten thousands killings took place at Calcutta.
