There are total 72 thaats in karnatic classical music ( there are two types of classical music in India - Hindustani classical music and carnatic classical music) In these 72 thaats thousands of raags can be invented. In Hindustani classical music there are only 10 thaats. All raags are complexed in their own ways. It depends on a student that what raag he/she has practiced the most. All appreciation to you both for appreciation. That you were saying, "Raag lagana" is not correct. These are called "Taan" which are a set of sargams within the taala, here it's 16 bit teen taala. Taans are of two types, either by pronouncing the sargams or replacing "Aàaaaaa" in place of sargams to make the sur eminent. A set of Taans is called "Taankari" The "Raaga" is the entire creation based on certain moods, season, times etc. It's spread over "Alaap" without any beats, "Bistar" the slow spreading of the mood, "Bilambit" where the rhythm starts slowly and the "Drut" which is fast expression and final crescendo of the creation. It takes at least 2/3 hours to complete the cycle, which these artists do in live performances.

Agree with you! Multani is indeed quite a difficult raga and not very often sung even by famous singers. It requires a special tonal structure for its mood to be evoked. Please listen to Pt Bhimsen Joshi's Multani as an example.
