Pakeezah’s background score is probably the best background score for a Bollywood movie till date. I’m surprised that it didn’t win any award. Likewise, Meena Kumari’s best role and sadly she did get an award. Lastly, this was an epic so Kamal Amrohi should’ve got award for this film. Filmfare was so ordinary at times that it’ll regret these incidents.

Maine pachaso baar dekhi hai pr hr baar nai lgti hai aur ek gehri soch chhod jati hai ki koi kaise ye kr sakta hai. Ek bahot hi sundar painting ki trh hai ye movie. some salient features : 1. Meena Kumari's acting is admirable ; as inspite of being ill, she acted well. 2. Nice songs of Lata ji 3. Good direction of Kamal Amrohi ji 4. Majestic views of mansions, interior decorations. 5. Sad profession of Prostitution has been well presented. 6. why only prostitutes are looked down by society; not the clients who go to the brothel ? 7. when Sahibjaan refused marriage proposal from Salim at the middle of the movie; it surely shown the maturity of Sahibjaan . She was ready to sacrifice her love of Salim; cause marrying her means a lot of pain and headache for him. 8. However, she accepted his proposal at the end; cause his family and grandfather was for the marriage. It was quite a subtle satire for the society. 9. At the same time; I have a compassion for the society. How to accept a prostitute as a daughter in law? Samskar is a valid point as well. 10.Nargis's suffering is too much to experience. She is rejected from her fiance's house. And; she is unable to take rejection. Solution is hard to find. 11.Infatuation between Nargis and Shahabuddin & Sahibjaan and Salim are understood. When hormones are too high due to nature; no one can be blamed. I just hope society to be less conservative and sometimes think that people in west may be luckier;as they are relatively less conservative. 12.Nawabjaan is the one; who did not allow father to take his daughter at the middle of the movie. However, at the end; she is one who told the secrecy at the family of Salim that Shahabuddin is the father of Sahibjaan. Why this change of mind? I could not understand and do not know the answer. 13.Reminded me another sad movie; Mausam; which is similar to Pakeeza. 14. It may be formula movie for the producers as well; as showing sadness, dance, young attractive women, social dramas, dashing men sells tickets. 15. I was awestuck by Meena ji in her earlier movie ; Sahib Bibi aur Gulam. She surely is larger than life artist. 16.Ghulam Mohammed ji also deserves to be appreciated for excellent music. 17. In 1972, Pran refused to accept his Filmfare award for the Best Supporting Actor in Be-Imaan because he felt music composer Ghulam Mohammed deserved a Filmfare award for his songs in Pakeezah. 18.Each song is a deep poetry in this movie; which can be considered one of a kind. Months or years could be spent analyzing and appreciating the deeper meaning of each poetry. 19. Pakeezah means pure, clean , righteous. It is society; which is not pure and dirty. It is clients ; who are dirty and cunning, who come to spoil young women and it is brothel manager(madam); who is dirty. It is quite interesting to see the cunning society has managed to throw all the blame on young women and on nobody else. 20.Shah Jahan made Taj Mahal for his wife, Kamal Sahab wanted to do the same with Pakeezah.- Kamal Amrohi's PR man And, in my humble viewpoint; Kamal ji succeeded in his aspiration. One can only aspire as per h/his means and he succeed to make artistic Taj Mahal for his spouse Meena ji. Such is life! Good for him. life ; which got no pain, no pleasure, no anand, no depression. At the end, just look at life only with awe and wonder. Life surely is impossible to understand and comprehend for our 5 senses and for our thinking mind; as life can be understood only in an extreme meditative state; when we achieve inner zero in our mind. 21. Pakeezah: 2.26.24; The young girl in the movie(at the very end of film); who deserves to have a dignified marriage : sometime in future. 22. good portray of nature. 23. Initial luke warm reception from movie goers is not exceptional. Common customers want formula movie; which got action, fight. That is the whole reason; Mere Naam Joker was floped. However, after few week of release of Pakeeza; Meena ji passed away. Therefore, the movie became hit due to sympathy vote. Other Classic arts movies got similar fate. 24. Pakeezah was surely a commendable effort to show the real view of young women; who gets used by society. Sahibjaan's marriage to Salim at the end of the movie is attempt from movie produecer and writer to show the progress of Tamasik society to Satwik society is possible. Good to see optmistic future.

Is it fair to say that Kamal destroyed her life?? I can believe that Dharmender used her to reach the top. I’m sure he loved her too. I mean 😢 who can resist MEENA’s BEAUTY ! Meena kumari and Savitri Telugu actresses having their cine faces dances and actions tragedy and comedies are super and marvellous They should have been awarded Doctorates in recognition of their facial expressions and songs dances melodiously according to the times of these lyrics.Ism favourite of these two of Hindi and telugu. राहुल जी आपका बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद,कि आप पुरानी फिल्मों के अविस्मरणीय‌ संस्मरणों को इतना दिल लगाकर कह रहे कि एहसास हो ही जाता है पाकिजा क्या चीज है। बहुत ही चरणबद्ध तरीके से फिल्म के निर्माण और रीलीज तक का वोह ऐतिहासिक सफर बयान ए अंदाज में भी पाकिजगी छलक रही थी।हम गाते हैं सभी पुराने गीतों को, पांच हजार सात सौ से कवर्स स्टार मेकर के लिए हमने गाएं,इस, में आज भी आपा के पुराने गीतों को सुनते हैं उनके चाहने वाले तहजीब से। मुझे मिमीक्री की आदत है मैं आपाजी के गीतों में उनकी तरह आवाज में कुछ संवाद बोलकर गानों को प्रासंगिक करता हूं.मौसम है आशिकाना,और चलते चलते,,ठाडे रहियो, और हाल ही में मैंने आखरी गीत पाकिजा का हम आज अपनी दुआओं का असर गीत की तैयारी हेतु यूं ट्यूबपर विडियो देखा तो दंग रह गया मीना कुमारी जी अपने बांएं हाथ की कटी उंगली को चुनरी या पल्लू से ढांककर एक हाथ से ही डांसिंग स्टेप किया करती थी।पर यह क्या देख रहे हम,से विडियो में मीना जी जबरदस्त कांच के टुकड़ों पर तेज नृत्य कर रही है उंगली वाला हिस्सा भी नहीं कवर कर रही है। वहां कमेंट बॉक्स में हमने लिखा कि यह मीनाजी हो ही ऊ सकती।खैर हमें फिल्मी सफर नामा बेहद अच्छा लगा। शब्बा खैर।पाजी भी ऊपर बहुत खुश होगी।

we grew up attending Tawaifs mehfils in mohallas in Ahmedabad. Mostly Tawaif were coming from Baroda.I remeber two names.1. Kali Begum and 2. Zubeda. Zubeda sang a Thumari Poetry written by Ahmedabad Pardanasheen Poet whose nickname was Kamil wordings were "Mazdhar se le ker sahil tuk ek moj hawa mein ayegi, Sahil ke nazara bazon ko tufan mein baha le jayegi"
