I observed that he spoke Hindi/Urdu with a Punjabi accent but looked very much like a coastal Maharashtrian. So I asked him who he was, and he said he was from a village near Lahore, Pakistan, and he was a Roman Catholic. He then said he was of Goan ancestry. I was surprised to know this. We talked for a while. He expressed his desire to come back home to Goa, his ancestral land, and live close to family and relatives. Hope it works out now.

The British needed educated people , and since Goa had a high level of education, Goans migrated to Bombay & Karachi starting in the 1800s. After 1947 they remained in Pak, but most gradually immigrated to Western countries.
@upresins7 ай бұрын
@@alani3992 Yes. During the 50s 60s, the Pakistan Economy was doing quite well, so we get to learn from some commentators. Also from some videos on KZbin we see that during the British era and 1950s, Karachi was cosmopolitan in nature and had a vibrant social life. This attracted a lot of Goans, East Indian Christians and Anglo Indians. But all this changed when the demographics changed post-partition, and also during the late 1970s and onwards. Now it's unfortunately turning into a veritable hell hole.

There were around 5-7 Portuguese colonies in India. Even before India - Pakistan partition. They were into small continents .Goa, Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli(Mumbai), Cochin Malabar, near Calcutta and a few of them were near Karachi and near Dhaka before the partition. After partition Pakistan declared the country as Islamic republic. After that nobody knew what happened to the small continents of the Portuguese colony in Pakistan. Most of the ancestral History was wiped after Pakistan declared Islamic state.. Around 30% non-Muslim minorities were tortured and forced to be converted to Islam. There were also Goan families stranded in Pakistan after the Partition. And now we see the reality of the Goan community coming out in light in Pakistan. Thanks to KZbin. I am sure CAA will help them
