Thank's for the video it solved my problem. I bought random controller and it was from ntsc region but now everything work's fine. Ps. I never know that nes have region block for controller's.

oddly enough the inverse works perfectly fine or atleast you can plug pal nes controllers into ntsc av famicoms and it works great. i wouldn't know if the same applies to pal controllers on us nes but i'd advise getting an av famicom and modding it to have an led/accept the nes zapper and just use a cartridge adapter for us games as it gives you the most compatibility of peripherals (including the FDS) and it's excellent for rgb modding too as you can use the same av out thats already on the system.

Hi, nice tutorial. But is it there a chance to mod the controller itself instead of the port? I made a DIY arcade stick with a clonic NASA pad with turbo PCB and used it in a PAL NES modded to be multi-region, not cutting the 4 pin leg but soldering the points. The point is that it starts working and suddenly stops reacting after a few moments. I'm not very willing to mod the port but to do it in the PAD PCB. Could it be done like that?

Oh, you evil person lol! I had this on my list of things to-do. I've got some plugs and sockets of each region and planned to make an adapter. I will still do it at some point as I wanted to use NES pads on the Famicom and vice versa =D Great video =D

Hey there, I have the opposite problem. I have an NTSC NES. I just bought a PAL NES FOUR SCORE and it doesn't work. Do you think this controller port mod would work for my situation? Or is there a mod for the Four Score?

Nice video, but can you do the same with a clone NES? There is no board with diodes on the controller ports and the VCC and GND of the controller port do not match. Could you make a video in this case? Thanks

region locking on peripherals it's safe to say nintendo have always been a-holes, also looks like you could bridge a few of those connections by scraping a bit of solder mask

PAL controllers work fine on any region, NTSC controllers only work on NTSC consoles. I think the addition of the diodes have more to do with European electronics regulations at the time, than an actual region lock.

Hi, I am in with Pal system too, I had just received a NTSC motherboard. I had tested PAL controller and PAL FOUR SCORE (4 player) and all is ok. Very strange that is only a problem with PAL motherboard.

Thanks for the tutorial. I bought a power glove from usa and doesn't work certainly because of the controller port on my nes pal. Do you think if i change the port on the console(make the differents bridges on the diodes), it can works?

First, you have to remove diodes and then add jumper wires. otherwise pal fourscore will not work anymore.

NES-004E controllers work on all NES-004 controllers work on NTSC and PAL-B but not on PAL-A The solution is to just buy the NES-004E controllers don't bother with knockoffs.
