Vic Mignogna talks about getting religious backlash

Vic is what others should strive to be like, religion or no. It shouldn't take a belief to be loving towards others, or accepting, but all the better if it truly helps that along. Still, Vic is an amazing guy, and it hurts to know that he gets any kind of backlash for simply being true to what he believes in-something that doesn't harm others in any way.

That is very nice. However, the part that I get hung up on is the faith part. If reason is not the supreme arbitrator of truth, then we cannot talk and convince one another. All ideas are not equal. Truth (in the Natural world) is a product of reason and the best application of reason to nature is science and its metdology of falisiability. If you love someone and feel that they are in error then you would prevent them from continuing in that manner. I feel that this is the rationale of religious intervention. God is great. God is true so if you do not accept god, then you are harming yourself. If you love someone you would not tolerating them harming themselves. Only by using logic reason and scientific falsifiability can we derive valid arguments about truth.
