Regarding a potential Tera ban, I think if action had gone through 2 years ago, the meta would be basically unrecognizable compared to what it is today. It leaves room for so much innovation in the tier, but also is directly responsible for over half of OU's bans. If we don't get anything new before gen 10 in the way of DLC or new mega forms in ZA, I could definitely see the community banding together for an outright ban - not open teamsheets. The amount of unbans that would flood following a Tera ban would bring new life to the tier that I could see it needing without any new additions over the next couple years.

@@lesqueegee I was being facetious with sol and Reshiram, but Imma be real I think lugia is possible. To me it seems like it'd play something like a special version of Zama tbh. Like yes I get that with tera it's probably borderline immortal under the right conditions, but because of its natural typing it's coverage is pretty wack. You'll almost always be CM + Recover which only leaves 2 attacks, most likely psyshock and tera blast ground, but that set loses to toxic gliscor. If you run a water move for gliscor then you can never beat gambit. I think I'd be willing to at least test Lugia, but probably only if tera gets banned (which does feel likely as of late)

@ this is a case that people made for Kyurem last gen, which ultimately led to the ban of Kyurem. Sure, specs sets lose to rocks, and sub roost doesn’t auto win games, but having to account for the set variety in a relatively restrictive meta can become insufferable in casual and competitive play. There were team comps that outright neutered palafin, but needing to run teams like that to ensure that a pokemon with absurd stats can stay in the meta and potentially threaten teams that don’t run that comp makes for unhealthy building habits. I feel like lugia can be palatable against some comps, but it would be insufferable to run into the sets that your team doesn’t beat. Calm mind with mamoswine coverage on a far mon is a spell for disaster even without tera, and with tera players will fish for nonsense on a game to game basis. I’m good off of that, but I do see the merit.

you could actually do it so that whatever is the suspect is voted on biweekly/monthly by people who can crack top 500 on it. that way the most engaged players can grind out metagames with some suspect tested thing to see if anyone starts changing their mind one way or another on something. this could allow all sorts of diff tera(blast) tests and shit just to see if maybe some changes make things more fun.

Palafin being banned and Deoxys-S being UU proves 2 things: 1. Dexit was a mistake, Jelliscent would've eaten Palafin alive 2. Too many Booster Energies and Boots on one team Smogon needs to put an 👏ITEM 👏 CLAUSE 👏 Item clause was a thing even as far back in Gen 3 Official Nintendo Tournaments, when there was barely any items to use. It's been standard in VGC for YEARS. Since Gen 6, Gamefreak has been designing items WITH Item Clause in mind: - Mega Stones and Z Crystals only work once per battle - Most new items in Gen 8 were single use, except Boots, which are ALREADY controversial because of NO item Clause - The Booster Energy wasn't meant to be used by multiple mons a team, even the FINAL BOSS of the damn game only used one despite having a whole Paradox team The Sylveon team at 10:50 funnily enough, is the only team in the video full of unique items.

Some of them ran Tera Flying+Acro for Waterpon (even banded CC has a decent chance to OHKO even from jolly Pal), Ice punch was really common which dealt with Hydrapple, and Alo can't really do much back besides getting a Scald burn. Alo can end up as setup fodder pretty easily in a 1v1 vs Bulk Up Pal with Sub/Taunt and Drain Punch. It was fun to play around with for the suspect, but I think it deserved the ban. Switching once is not a good enough drawback to get access to Water-type Slaking with STAB Priority and no Truant

Yes it’s overwhelming when you play a team that if u miss two turns but whenever I ran balance it just wasn’t an issue and whenever I used it yes I would beat iron val, gholdengo, kinggambit, greattusk, raoeingmoon team. But everyone forgets that all you need is defensive zap or oger. I’m just saying people refuse to team build and expect to beat the mon who punished fast fragile spam. Like heavy duty boots drag literally one v ones palafin, and zama does too which in my opinion is way more constricting and even water absorb clod or sinischa, god forbid u use the bulk up set. The only thing u can run for sin is ice punch which does like 50-60% and then it matcha gotcha and you lose. I dunno for everyone to be so adamant that it should be rebanned feels very odd when there are dozens of options. It almost feels like people want to use the same 9 Pokémon and anything that upheaves that is a threat to the meta game, forgetting the meta game has like 30 other mons.

The reason people voted ban wasn't because there are no answers, it's because there are so many other overwhelming offensive threats that you MUST have an answer to in the tier that adding another would be insane. Here are all of the threats you must currently plan for when team building: Kingambit, Zamazenta, Gholdengo, Darkrai, Dragonite, SD Gliscor, Iron Moth, Iron Valiant, Kyurem, Ogerpon-W, Raging Bolt, Samurott-H, Roaring Moon, Iron Crown, Walking Wake, and Weavile. That is without taking into account all of the mons that are still dangerous offensive threats like Latios and Heatran, but have Lowe usage. Of the previous list, there Ogerpon-W and Kyurem definitely need bans, and a case can certainly be made for Darkrai and Zama.
