Thanks for your comment Peter. I TOTALLY agree with you. If you are still in Greece I would recommend another hill village for your soul: probably a little less vizitated but charming is Ampelakia in Larissa region. If you go towards Stomio via Neos Panteleimonas then, from there, you will have a good connection with Ampelakia. An alternative will be to use the road to OSSA ( Kissavos ) mountain but, honestly, Google Maps seems to be a bit lost in the Greek mountains so make sure the route is very clear to you. Regarding these nice old villages - there are quite a few of them in Greece but it is hard to find them. These are true hidden gems and we are so pleased when we find them :) Enjoy your stay in Greece!

Nice :) To respond your question: Ampelakia - a nice and quiet hill town, Litochoro, hiking and exploring Myticas Peak ( Mount Olympus ). Maybe hiking on Mount Kissavos ( Ossa ). Not so far from here is the Meteora Monasteries Complex and in the North of Greece you will have the second largest city in this country - Thessaloniki. Further is Kavalla. In the Northern Greece you also have Dion, Vergina maybe Athos ( if not too far for you ). First 3 interest points are quite close to Palaios Panteleimonas. There is also a byzantine fortress but you won't miss it - I am sure. Enjoy you stay in Greece!
