We were fortunate enough to live next to Uncle Palani’s parents in Waimanalo, and would occasionally bring them some fish. I also had the amazing experience of standing next to him while he sang Ipo Lei Manu in front of King Kalakaua’s crypt in the royal mausoleum at Mauna ‘Ala, a song that had been composed especially for him on his trip to San Francisco from which he never returned. It was so very touching to feel the aloha between Palani and his King. Mahalo for sharing this historic video. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
