Worst Case Boundary is a general term used to refer to an inner boundary, outer boundary or virtual condition
For an internal FOS, inner boundary is the smallest FOS (MMC) minus the effect of applicable geometric tolerance and any additional tolerance that may apply
For an external FOS, inner boundary is the smallest FOS (LMC) minus the effect of applicable geometric tolerance and any additional tolerance that may apply
For an internal FOS, outer boundary is the largest FOS (LMC) plus the effect of applicable geometric tolerance and any additional tolerance that may apply
For an external FOS, outer boundary is the largest FOS (MMC) plus the effect of applicable geometric tolerance and any additional tolerance that may apply
Virtual Condition is a fixed size boundary generated by the collective effects of a considered FOS specified MMC or LMC and the geometric tolerance for that material condition
For IMMC : VC = IB = MMC - GTV
For ILMC : VC = OB = LMC + GTV
For IRFS : IB = MMC - GTV
For EMMC : VC = OB = MMC + GTV
For ELMC : VC = IB = LMC - GTV
For ERFS : OB = MMC + GTV
VC - Virtual Condition
RC - Resultant Condition
IB - Inner Boundary
OB - Outer Boundary
BT - Bonus Tolerance
GTV - Geometric Tol. Value

Thank you for this video. Was wondering why have separate boundary and virtual terms to describe the same thing! It's clear now. Not sure if you have made a video on applying material conditions to Datums and also stack up tolerances as requested by another reader. Will look out for them. Thankyou very much..

Virtual boundary calculated at MMC of Internal feature tells me the maximum shaft size that the hole can accommodate. Similarly what is the use of Virtual boundary calculated at LMC of Internal feature. Please clarify

At 9:29 in video For LMC hole you obtained VC = 30.6 , the LMC of the hole is 30.5 Kindly tell me how a geometric counter part (shaft) equal to 30.6 will mate with LMC hole of 30.5 Same doubt for LMC Of shaft. Because in both cases the shaft is bigger than the hole size

QUESTION SIR sir i tried from scratch say size i am referring is 50 dia desired fit i have selected is H7- g6 to be yield H7 = 50.000 AND 5.025 g6 = 49.091 and 49.075 is desired fit recommended position tolerance for size 50 is 0.1 now started from hole as we follow hole basis system say 50.000 as MMC INNER BOUNDARY VC comes out 49.9 now shaft i need to be dimensioned must be around 49.9 with OUTER BOUNDARY VC but currently according to basic tolerance g6 = 49.091 and 49.075 ( 49.9 is fitting in this TZ) PLEASE CONVEY CALCULATION PLEASE MAKE VIDEO EXPLAINING FROM SCRATCH from NOMIAL SIZE TO GD AND T TILL FINAL FIT

Related AME and Boundaries are not the same thing...AME are only considered with physical part, and they can change from part to part...they don't exist unless you have a physical part...VC though can be calculated from the information on the drawing. So please be careful of these terms, maybe edit your video to edit that.

Hi Sir , Thanks for making such informative videos. I have a question regarding the position tolerance calculation Let's assume we have to fasten two flanges with m20 bolts.In one flange there is M20 tapping and 2nd has dia 22 clearance hole. The number of hole is 12 at equal spacing.. Orientation and pcd of hole is given the basic dimension .. How to calculate the position tolerance value for both M20 tapping and dia 22 hole. Thanks in advance..

If VC is same as IB and OB , rhen why we r studying it .
@PalaniKailash
@PalaniKailash 4 жыл бұрын
VC can be either IB or OB depending upon MMC or LMC conditions. VC is important for deciding the size tolerance to ensure assembly. Only when the VC of shaft and VC of hole is same, we will be able to assemble the parts considering the dimensional tolerance and geometric tolerance

@@PalaniKailash But in case of LMC(internal FOS), as per example in the video the VC of hole is 30.6mm which is not the worst case. Worst case would be 30.4mm (30.5-0.1). Then how a pin with VC of 30.6 can be assembled in 30.4mm hole (considering worst case) although the VC is same ?
