Mohaamd_7 certainly didn’t intent to say that everyone single individual in that corridor is wealthy but most of Silicon Valley successful executives live there - one can not afford a place there unless one has a successful startup exit or old money - even successful doctors unless they are linked to some medical startup can’t afford there presently - Los Altos, Cupertino, Palo Alto, Atherton and Hillsborough are recession proof

@jasonwright6065 жыл бұрын
This interview may point to one part of the US government not understanding what another part of the US government is doing. Palantir may be protecting citizens from harm at home and abroad, but is the US intelligence community playing a game that foments that same threat by its illicit organisation and funding of foreign paramilitary forces it uses to execute US geo strategic goals but struggles to keep control of? I think the CIA calls it 'blow back'. The Mujahideen, Taliban, ISIS, et.c., et.c. are all proxies for US intervention in the Middle East and North Africa. Nice looking jacket. Who made it?

Disclaimer: I'm recently retired military. Ideologically, I don't disagree with you, but one of the stronger arguments for the global proxy wars is that they are much better than a real war fought on American soil (which you and I would be REALLY "interested" in). That's the devil's advocate position to (probably) your and my positions. It's a strong argument. I've seen a lot of things during my 20 years of service and war is almost an abstraction to most living Americans. When viewed up close, its true horror cannot be understated. Food for thought.

Uber is symbolic of the SV bubble. VC investors are trying to sell it to retail investors before it pops. It’s a business model that relies on suppliers (driviers) making a bad economic decision with their vehicles (massive depreciation and depletion of their vehicles) and time (low wages, no minimum guarantees), yet UBER still loses money and pretends that it will be profitable one day. Tough to see how this can end well for the retail investors that will be left holding the bag.
@ftse075 жыл бұрын
jealva Apple believed it can sell phones for $1,000....time is the enemy of a bad business model.

Uber and Lyft are both just biding their time until they have an autonomous fleet and can then have 0 contract employees and therefore become profitable. It's a much closer reality than most would care to admit.
@jealva5 жыл бұрын
Mohi Media Widespread autonomous auto fleets are decades away. And if they are viable sooner, then your point supports my comment - UBER relies on drivers to make bad economic choices. By choosing to drive for UBER, they are giving the company a lifeline until UBER is ready to replace the drivers.
@MOHIMEDIALLC5 жыл бұрын
@@jealva If you think they are decades away you're out of touch with the technology and it's rate of progress. Not everyone will have an autonomous car within a decade, but those companies will definitely have an autonomous fleet within a decade. I don't disagree with you that at the moment it relies on employees not realizing it isn't profitable to drive uber full time (but it definitely is to drive just weekends). But Uber/Lyft and its investors know their costs will plummet once they have an autonomous fleet.
@jealva5 жыл бұрын
Mohi Media I refer to a widespread autonomous fleet. Some autonomous is possible within a few years but not a large enough fleet to support a larger business footprint.

Wonder what this guy thinks about tax reform -- billionaires and corportations paying their fair share? I understand it was not even discussed at Davos in public while in private they were melting down over the prospect that their greed is finally catching up with them after 3 DEMS candidates announce proposals for campaign finance and tax reform with more coming aboard every day.
@greggf68315 жыл бұрын
why do people always say Billionaires don't pay their fair share? I mean they pay 39% of all taxes and the bills in this country. Meanwhile 47% of Americans pay no tax at all!!! 1% is paying 100's of billions in taxes and im not a 1% so im not protecting anyone. But what do you say about he 47% of Americans who dont pay for the military that protects them or any other federal program, or medicaid , or FBI, EPA, and everything else? How is the 47% contributing?? And should the 47 be doing something in place of money like volunteering, working in their community? Maybe people who dont pay any tax dollars should by law be providing labor to make America a better place? No? I lose 45% of my income in NYC and some never pay a dime into the system they benefit from! That the people not paying fair share!!!
