Holy molly, guys, I dunno if you know already, but I was listening to this a while ago on earphones and at the beginning of the song you can hear a very soft heartbeat sound. My headcanon is that it's the heartbeat of the person who went flatlining in DIAHT (note that it's got a flatline sound before the first chorus).

I love this song. After listening several times I think I came to a theory of the meaning of it. Basically a 'masochist' isn't just sexual thing, but also a strongly psychological phenomena where a person becomes 'dependant' on something that's hurting them. In this song, the 'something' I believe is an abusive relationship. A lot of the lyrics can be tied to depression and anxiety (aka, result of the abusive relationship).
