I love this song. After listening several times I think I came to a theory of the meaning of it. Basically a 'masochist' isn't just sexual thing, but also a strongly psychological phenomena where a person becomes 'dependant' on something that's hurting them. In this song, the 'something' I believe is an abusive relationship. A lot of the lyrics can be tied to depression and anxiety (aka, result of the abusive relationship).

Jack Evans no way. its crazy, im trying to really enjoy this new album, masochist is a good song. but jesusssss christ the lyrical content on this album is pretty repetitive and dull. boom boom room is thousand times better. the lyrics are more unique and visually descriptive. also half of the songs on this album sound like they were beat half to death and thrown into a blender.
