I'm hoping that one of the target species mentioned in this film's synopsis is a sauropod, a scene where the main characters end up as the targets of a sauropod's wrath would be sick. Also, it would be a great way to show how these herbivores aren't just gentle giants to be used as background set pieces.
@FragulumFaustum17 күн бұрын
Assuming that they don't take the opportunity to completely revamp/update the designs, and that we still have sauropods that can chew, they could have a bit of fun in the opposite direction, too. You know how cows, horses, and the like will occasionally take the opportunity to scarf down a chick that strays too close - a small, defenceless animal that provides a quick boost of protein? If any herbivorous animal would ever see a human that way...

James mentioned that given how fast the movie is being made, maybe we won't see that many dinosaurs in the movie. I would just like to remind everyone that Gareth Edwards has already made a movie where you could barely see a dinosaur and it was quite successful. Especially for the first Godzilla movie in 10 years (at the time it was released).

A “franchise” of movies that kinda stand alone but are obviously in the same world where each movie is a smaller scale story from a small group of humans having to deal with dinosaurs would be really cool in my opinion. Kinda like battle at big rock, but just, more.

My biggest issue with the dinosaurs being near extinct is that it just straight up goes against the last movie. Dinosaurs were everywhere(and especially if you add in the Chaos Theory stuff), they should have survived in more diverse areas. Especially compsognathus and dimorphodon(I probably didn’t write any of those right. It’s late.) which are tiny and sometimes described as rats in the franchise. They should survive a few places at the very least.

Honestly what’s getting me interested in this film is the fact Gareth Edwards is directing & David Koepp is penning the script, having Edwards on board means it’s going to be the best looking JP/JW movie & the original JP writer does mean it’s at least going to be better written than the last 4 movies. The synopsis does sound like a Crichton-esc plot, I’ll give it that.

The synopsis sounds more like what my 5 years old niece would have written.

im just happy trevorrow is gone. people claiming synopsis is simplistic, dont really realize how simple the basic plot of jurassic park basically always has been, its a preety silly thing to pick on. the plot sounds like a return to basics, regardless of what your level of skepticism is. will this be better? definitely not, but i mean you dont have to surpass it to have a good movie. the bar is preety low rn, it shouldnt be hard to surpass any of the world movies so far.

@@samuraibeluga3749 Jurassic park plot was basic yes, "A billionar succed to resurect dinosaur with DNA left in fossilized mosquitos and build a park on a remoted island to show them to the world, but nothing's gonna go as planed" It's basic, not simplistic. This plot for JW4 is simplistic as hell, "So there's 3 Mega giga dinos, 1 on land, 1 on air and 1 on sea who have super ultra mega special DNA, and all three merged together will create a super drugue that will help humanity". You have one that is clearly way more believeble than the other.
@samuraibeluga374917 күн бұрын
@@foxxtitan7028 i do agree basic would be a better choice of words here, more in line with what i wanted to express. it really depends on how cheesy they will make it on the final product obviously, but the idea that animals, especially animals that we had never had access to, could help us make breakthrough in medicine is not farfetched at all. i mean we do that in real life. the cheesiest part about it is clearly "in land, sea and air" part wich is clearly a vehicle for just giving us dinosaur variety. again it will absolutely depend on execution here, ill give you that, but i wouldnt paint that base concept as nonsensical or particularly unbelievable. like i said the bar is preety low, i no longer ask for the original themes to be explored with the same nuance, thats kinda out the window a bit, at this point deliver me a suspenseful, and actually scary ride, thats reminiscing of the originals in terms of vibes and ill be happy.

If I was going to take a stab for a Jurassic Plot with Dinosaurs existing out in the wild, I think I'd go with an idea revolving around invasive species with some species of dinosaurs outcompeting extant animals leading to a decision of do you hunt down these animals to protect native wildlife or not. Like Sauropods on the African savannah eating everything in sight and leaving very little vegetation in their wake for African elephants, The Mosasaurus in the Pacific decimating humpback whale populations, that sort of thing. Not sure how you would role that into a 90 minute-ish movie.

34:41 Ingen went into Chapter 11 but was bought out by Masrani Global which dissolved most of the company after Jurassic World but the I-Rex genome had to be deleted because of its violations of the Gene Guard Act. Biosyn absorbed Mantah Corp but even combined they didn’t have many genomes themselves. When they collapsed I doubt they’d give it to the UN or the DPG but Biosyn didn’t keep them so who knows. Probably some new organization was created to keep the genomes and study the animals but Masrani energy does still own most of the genomes on a hard drive somewhere. As far as patents, only Masrani global has any at this point because Biosyn and Mantah Corp created all their animals in secret but I believe those were revoked. If I had to guess, only the Ingen animals will have the Genes the characters want in this film because I think it will tie into the Lost World novel which this script has some similarities to.

I don’t quite get why this keeps needing to be said, but the biggest problem with the locust plot in Dominion is that we were lead to believe by both Fallen Kingdom and Dominion’s own marketing that the movie’s plot would be about Dinosaurs in the wild. This ended up being a complete afterthought in the movie, and the problem just magically fixed itself offscreen. Which is why I’m so happy the new movie is rolling that back.

In this franchise, I think it’d be cool if DNA actually had a longer “shelf-life”...with, let’s say...a “best-before” date. This could be why the cloned organisms brought back to life have issues. I think that would be good in explaining why certain animals have digestive issues, or vision impairments...rather than it being from foreign DNA like from frogs. Additionally, I think it would’ve been really interesting had the dinos started reproducing asexually due to selective pressure in the same way we see frogs and reptiles, including some poultry birds. The interesting thing is in JP, Hammond even says “Condors are endangered and you’d have no issue if we brought them back,” so imagine if, like condors have been documented to, the dinos were reproducing asexually simply because that’s what they had to do to survive. That alone would be an “Oh Shit” moment that Wu didn’t consider beforehand. And of course the point y’all made about how these animals don’t belong in this time period...but somehow manage to thrive like Hammond says in TLW: that alone could be the inspiration for JW Rebirth to pursue the science behind how these animals can adapt and live and how it can be applied to humanity.

Koepp isn't the writer he used to be (looking at you, Dial of Destiny) but it is still an improvement over Trevorrow and Carmichael. I do hope they actually listen to Brusatte this time too. There's about a 7 or 8% chance it could be good. I initially scoffed at House of the Dragon after GoT season 8 and I've rarely been happier to be wrong (at the time).
