It’s not like we’re strangers for our plight to be ignored But this it’s too much I couldn’t take thier silence it disgusted me to the point of puking I had to unfollow every person who didn’t speak up Cuz this time it’s been going intense for 5 months? And even tho we’ve gone global with big protest in the streets most influencers are ignoring it there’s no way they don’t know I knew we were gon be treated that way but thinking about it now from as if I was a foreign Let’s say Ukrainian remember why they got the treatment none of us got from influencers it’s actually rlly frustrating

@@RiRi-ku6xz I am so sorry for your pain. Their silence is unbelievable. Cannot stand to keep watching them smiling, reading, cooking or whatever anymore as if nothing has happened. Yes, there are tons of atrocities happening worldwide during the past 10 years (since I discovered Booktube) and most of them only spoke up for BLM and Ukraine, yes they are not political channels and I understand their situation when even high-profile people got canceled. But as you mentioned the intensity is unprecedented (how can our world let it continue for 5 freaking months), and not even one word to show they care? It feels like they live in an alternative reality. I will never watch their videos again.

A not so fun fact : ghassan kanafani was assassinated in 1972 by the Mossad WITH HIS NEICE in Lebanon and they called him a terrorist so reading his works and appreciating his message that he wanted to spread to the world is on its own an act of rebellion against injustice and honoring those who died for us all . Also I think it’s interesting that the Zionist entity fears Palestinian authors and poets as much as they fear armed groups which means that art is on its own is in fact very very important to resist and to be free.

Even though I'm not Palestinian, their struggle has been a part of my life since I was born. It's like this silent undercurrent that nobody seems to notice or talk about. People often dismiss it as "complicated" and move on without trying to understand. Few take the time to read about it, to listen to the stories, or to watch the movies that shed light on the reality. Sadly, it took a heavy toll of countless lives for the world to finally pay attention. So, Thank you Jack for your voice!

Speaking as a Palestinian: such a video means so much to us, Jack. PS. I’m already a big fan of yours! As for recommendations, the first recommendation anyone would give you would be Ghassan Kanafani, and if you’re into poetry; Mahmoud Darwish. You’ve already started that journey, and i’m sure you’ll find your way to other works of Kanafani and Darwish, so i'll recommend some of my other favourites: 1. There's a deceased Palestinian author named Mourid al-Barghouti. I read two of his books (I saw Ramallah) and (I was born there. I was born here) - you can find both in English. The thing about these books is that the author really managed to express the Palestinian reality and the Palestinians' real thoughts and feelings. Aside from these books, Mourid al-Barghouti wrote poetry. I rarely read poetry, and so I genuinely felt sorry (for myself) because I knew i'd be missing out on so much by not reading his work. By the way, Mourid al-Barghouti was married to an Egyptian novelist named Radwa Ashour, who wrote, among other works, a novel called (Al-Tantouria) or (The woman from Tantoura) - I would also highly recommend it. Also, Radwa and Mourid had a son, Tamim al-Barghouti, who's a quite famous poet right now. Although I don't like to read much poetry, I do enjoy listening to him recite some of his poems. In general, I like to listen to poetry more than to read it. 2. Another author I think you'd enjoy reading for is Suad Amiry. Suad is originally an architect. She writes in English and her writing is humorous, which is why I think you'll enjoy it. I recommend these two books by her (Sharon and My Mother in Law) and (Golda Slept Here). You can also watch an old TEDx talk of hers here (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJyam6J5npKajtU). 3. There's also an author named Ibrahim Nasrallah, who wrote many books - I read 6 of them, but if I have to recommend only one I would definitely choose (Time of White Horses). This follows the story of a family from late Ottoman times to the Nakba in 1948. These are among my favourites, but we can always add more to the list if you'd like!
