If Isreal actually is a free and fair society than it should recognize and defend the property rights of Palestinians. The settlement program in West Bank is also a violation of international law and it should be stopped. Isreal has a right to exist and there should be a Jewish State. But the Jewish State has no special or divine authority to go against the numerous treaties they signed.

Well American taxes has nothing to do with this story - aid money to Israel is only used to buy US made military equipment and support the American economy. I can say that this report was as biased as humanly possible. The only Israeli that was interviewed to this story was a right wing nut case, his views does not represent 98% of the country, with that being said -even if I don't agree with him, he has the right to buy any house he wants in Siliwan if the Arabs are willing to sell (as much as Arabs have full right to purchase houses in other parts of the country). As for the demolishens: like it or not until the situation changes (and hopefully there will be peace and a Palestinan state), Israel has now full sovereignty in East Jerusalem. Most Palestinian residents in East Jerusalem work in West Jerusalem and enjoy a lot of services from the city and state. The Authorities cannot allow construction violations to happen - not in West nor in the East of the city (will the arthurites in Paris allow construction violations?).
