The beauty of your face by Sahar Mustafa is a fantastic book. Really enjoyed the book - it covers so many topics - mental health issues, parenting, addiction, loss of a family member. Can’t recommend that one enough!

The prize awarded to "Minor Detail" in Germany was not revoked. The ceremony to present it at the Frankfurt Book Fair was postponed. "Minor Detail" is a fine, if harrowing, work. Ben White is rather more problematic and deserves some context before making a wholehearted recommendation. White has defended Holocaust deniers and spoken about how he understands how "people are unpleasant towards Jews". He is not an impartial voice and should not be read in isolation from other more rounded, less partisan views on Israel/Palestine.

Thanks so much for your comments and agree that Minor detail is a fine piece of writing that should be read. However, the award has still been withheld to my knowledge with no future date given. I completely agree as a rule that #ownvoices authors are preferential in any setting, especially in the case of Palestine and without knowing any of this about Ben White, I still found the book to be factual, well written and backed with stats and evidence.

Ask at the same time where they can go and where they can’t... Just laugh

I don’t understand what this heartbreaking, touching story is about? I’m not going to go into the difficult history of the relationship when the Jews agreed to a small part of what was then PALESTINE and the Arabs rushed to kill. Then they were ordered to flee until all the Jews were kill Jews (what they do best). As you can see, for some reason they didn’t interrupt... And now the question: how do 20% of the Arab population live in ISRAEL? They will be happy to tell you. I think their standard of living is higher than yours! They will never leave ISRAEL!
