This is sad and disturbing at the same time. How can there be peace when Palestinians and Isrealis don't meet outside military encounters between IDF soldiers and Palestinians. Not meeting people as equals and where there is no power imbalance makes it easier for the extreme viewpoints to become the normal, because there are nothing to counter hate and distrust.

@@Hajar_R19this is the reality, its not London or Rome… Just from todays news, 2 arabs stop their car near bus station in Jerusalem and start to shot people, 5 wounded and 3 killed… All civilians. Another news from today in city of Lod, a car stopped and A masked man run out and stabbed a pregnant woman 15 times in front of her five-year-old child, killing both the woman and her unborn child. And this news are just from today. So maybe the old guy from the video sounds nice, but there is a lot of barbaric monsters that this soldiers need to deal every day with, so i can understand them, you cant stay always cold blooded specially if you just 18-21 years old…

+Dan Sanger Ok, listen up. Just like people can't prove the existence of God, neither can you disprove its existence; atheism is the stance that you do not concern yourself with gods, because you are not convinced by the evidence provided. Atheism is the lack of belief, not the belief that there is a god or gods. You're on par with the religious people that claim there is a God when it comes to the degree of arrogance. You DON'T KNOW, stop claiming there is no God.

@user-ed7et3pb4o
@user-ed7et3pb4o 3 жыл бұрын
That's because the older people remember times when there was more freedom of movement and things weren't so restricted. The younger people have grown up under complete occupation, annexation, settlements, etc. The only things they know about Israelis in personal experience is soldiers and harassment from settlers and constant resource theft. It's tragic, because that would radicalise many people. If the situation is getting worse, and it is, no wonder the younger people are more disillusioned than the old.

I hope you continue to do this work and get plenty of funding along the way. I think this is really important and hopefully the populations of these areas can start seeing each other (not the government, or the soldiers, but the *people*) as individuals who are just trying to live their lives. How you change the politics of the region I don't know... But I think this could be a good start.

Great vid Corey. I knew what you were trying to elicit, & I felt that at some point along the way you learned something, so good on you. : ) The one thing people aren't addressing is that almost ALL Israelis were once soldiers, so to say it's only soldiers who are the problem isn't logical. But, not all soldiers are stationed in the same area, given the same orders, etc. Bottom line is, this is why there is hate in this world, b/c of WAR!!! I don't believe in the military, war & violence & this vid just proved my point. When people work for the gov't (military equals gov't), they become a different person. They don't think for themselves (there's always exceptions) & they just follow orders even if they know internally it's wrong.

I have a few questions of my own for both sides.How does mistreatment affect those who receive it and how do they respond.That’s far more important than some silly questions.There is imbalance in military terms as well as support from relevant powers. It’s skewed towards one side.The next one is how does one respond to eviction or expulsion from their homes or homeland by others.One has to picture oneself in that scenario to give a thoughtful response.

The guy answers “yes” and tells a negative story when he’s asked for an example... Israel offered peace and a free Palestine like 7 times. But Palestinians refused each time. They refuse any type of negotiation and still say “we want peace” I’m sad for the Palestinian kids...

Wow, that ending caption! Tragically ironic in light of the conversations taking place here. here. If that's what it's like, then there's no hope until the Occupation ends. How the hell is anyone expected to use isolated, historical experiences of past kindness when the atmosphere of the Occupation is so toxic and polluted that it either poisons any new kindness that's experienced or just smothers the possibility of them happening?

For sure it's what the Israelis do We here in the U.S. simply use economic/trade/financial mechanisms and the pressure of diplomatic cartels to do the same thing: tease out the frustration of antagonists with institutional provocation. It's a sick game, and many of us here in the states hate it passionately are sick to our stomachs over it. I'm sure there are Israelis who feel the same way over their government's activities as well. In the end, however, Americans and Israelis are responsible for their government's behavior. And this kind of behavior is unacceptable.

Every Jewish Israeli civilian has to become a soldier in the IDF once he reaches 18 years old, and almost every Israeli civilian has someone from his family that is a soldier, be it brother, sister, father or child, and almost every Israeli you meet will tell you he loves his army, so yeah...it's kinda not possible to hate Israeli soldiers but at the same time have no problem with Israeli civilians.
@Saddamuel
@Saddamuel 9 жыл бұрын
Tranc estor You can hate the army as an institution. As the uniform that greets you at a checkpoint. But to hate Israelis just because everyone serves in the army in some way, is a bit like hating Americans because they can all vote and are all responsible for everything their country does. I am sure they meet plenty of decent soldiers, but even if someone treats you with respect, you still have to pass through a checkpoint and I understand the resentment. When you are not in uniform, you are a civilian. You can still vote for parties that are anti occupation. SO even as a soldier you can be working against the very job you are doing - it would be a bit like saying it is impossible for an Israeli to like a Palestinian because every Palestinian pays taxes to a government which maybe the Israelis don't like. It's crazy.
@DarkBrawlerLink
@DarkBrawlerLink 9 жыл бұрын
Human beings are very different from each other. They act according to their personal views, or because the laws of their countries says so. Even if someone's family member is a soldier and every Jewish Israeli is forced to serve in the army, they may agree or not with what the government forces them to do or with their relatives' view. What you are stating is like saying that we can't dislike Nazis without disliking all Germans. That's generalization, which is completely wrong and out of place.
@CDLightt
@CDLightt 9 жыл бұрын
DarkBrawlerLink Still, the fact is most Israelis love the IDF, even those who are considered leftists and liberals. You are right about the government though, alot of Israelis disagree with it, but both should not be confused together, the IDF remains the same IDF most Israelis love with or without the say of the government.

People have more understanding when they have a chance to meet and interact. For the older generations, there were not as many checkpoints, no wall, less settlements, occupation was less brutal. The Israeli occupation of the West Bank got uglier after Oslo Accords (ironically). The plan was to have a 5-year interim agreement where Israel gradually gives back some land and borders to Palestinians (according to borders of pre-1967), which should end in establishing the Palestinian state. Of course, this never happened. Israel increased its hold of the West Bank through settlements and military in order to keep control of land that is internationally recognised as Palestinian. This young generation (born late 80s, 90s+) have never experienced anything except occupation: they can't go into Israel, they need to go through Israeli military checkpoints to move from one Palestinian city to another, they've witnessed arrests, killings, settlements taking up more and more of their lands, the annexation wall surrounding their villages, 3 wars on Gaza where mostly civilians and children were killed: they only see the brutal occupation along with its soldiers and violent settlers. They never got a chance to meet civilians, simply because the occupation does not allow it. I am sure if they were allowed a chance to see the other face of Israelis, they would have answered differently.

If you are so sure that " Palestine , the country, goes back through most of recorded history," I expect you to be able to answer a few basic questions about that country of Palestine : When was it founded and by whom? What were its borders? What was its capital? What were its major cities? What constituted the basis of its economy? What was its form of government? Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat? Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or now, leaves no room for interpretation? What was the language of the country of Palestine ? What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine ? What was the name of its currency? Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese yuan on that date. And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur? You are lamenting the "low sinking" of a "once proud" nation. Please tell me, when exactly was that "nation" proud and what was it so proud of? And here is the least sarcastic question of all: If the people you mistakenly call "Palestinians" are anything but generic Arabs collected from all over -- or thrown out of -- the Arab world, if they really have a genuine ethnic identity that gives them right for self-determination, why did they never try to become independent until Arabs suffered their devastating defeat in the Six Day War? I hope you avoid the temptation to trace the modern day "Palestinians" to the Biblical Philistines: substituting etymology for history won't work here. The truth should be obvious to everyone who wants to know it. Arab countries have never abandoned the dream of destroying Israel ; they still cherish it today. Having time and again failed to achieve their evil goal with military means, they decided to fight Israel by proxy. For that purpose, they created a terrorist organization, cynically called it "the Palestinian people" and installed it in Gaza , Judea, and Samaria . How else can you explain the refusal by Jordan and Egypt to unconditionally accept back the "West Bank" and Gaza , respectively? The fact is, Arabs populating Gaza, Judea, and Samaria have much less claim to nationhood than that Indian tribe that successfully emerged in Connecticut with the purpose of starting a tax-exempt casino: at least that tribe had a constructive goal that motivated them. The so-called "Palestinians" have only one motivation: the destruction of Israel , and in my book that is not sufficient to consider them a nation" -- or anything else except what they really are: a terrorist organization that will one day be dismantled. In fact, there is only one way to achieve peace in the Middle East . Arab countries must acknowledge and accept their defeat in their war against Israel and, as the losing side should, pay Israel reparations for the more than 50 years of devastation they have visited on it. The most appropriate form of such reparations would be the removal of their terrorist organization from the land of Israel and accepting Israel 's ancient sovereignty over Gaza , Judea, and Samaria. That will mark the end of the Palestinian people. What are you saying again was its beginning?

@@brucewu3781 yes, but Israelis are in the position of strength. Nothing is realistically threatening their existence now. Yet they continue building settlements, which is unequivocally an act of aggression, and have interest in reaching an agreement with Palestinians. +Russell Forbes 1 state for both palastinias and jews won't happand, I wish it could be something like "the republic of Israel and Palastine" (just an exmple that i just made up the name) but it simply won't happand, The Israeli goverment won't accept it because it won't be a jewish country anymore, idk of the palastineins pepole will agree to it, and even there will be 1 state for all of them there will still be hate towards each other because they alot of pepole from both sides cant accept each other. because 1 state solution won't work and if you want peace you cant realy let the situation keep being like that, 2 states solution is probably the best for both sides, but in this solution there is problems as well, the extream pepole on both sides won't let this happand, but I still have hope for this solution. +CORNCAKE80 dude, around 7 million palestinians are refugees and cannot visit their land "there were 1 million" when they left, so you as a polish or what so ever can live in here while the indeginous people are not allowed even to visit?

lover sniper the "polish" told my grandparents to go to Palestine and that Jews are not welcomed in Europe... So we did. 7 Million refugees? What an interesting claim,mind sharing a source for that number?

lover sniper A good source? This source is as good as Al Jazeera. living in "exile" doesn't mean being a refugee. Palestinians living in Europe and U.S live better than most Israelis do.

To be fair on the guy who went to Germany and encountered the 3 girls, Why would they say bye to him at the end when he clearly stated he couldn't/wouldn't find a connection due to their origins? It's easy to paint them as the bad guy, But I'd of done the same if I put myself out there and I had someone treat me unfairly due to generalization and stereotyping. Why'd I accept a friend request from that kind of individual?
