I never really understood the conflict there. It confuses me. Im from United States and have never been to the middle east, however I am Muslim. The Quran teaches us the jews and christians are not our enemy...so why the hate? I get there has been bad done by both sides, I just struggle to understand this whole "us" and "them" thing. The Arabs of the region have always said no to any land partitioned in Palestine for the Jews. The earliest partition had only the northern 20% of Israel with no holy sites included. The arabs rejected this. Since there was so few arabs in the region and more jews immigrated to Israel and purchased land, the 1948 partition had more land assigned to the Jews. It should be noted that the original land assigned to 🇬🇧 included Jordan.

There was never any "transfer" of civilians. No Arabs were forced to leave and no Jews were transferred to the territories. Any Jews who moved there did so of their own free will.

Even in Hebrew Israelis living in the West Bank are often called מתנחלים which is actually an even more negative sounding term. Settlers doesn't have a negative or positive connotation to it and is almost the exact equivalent to מתיישבים which seems to be preferred by those who live there.
