For me, the biggest problem with season 1 is the lack of April and Ron. Ron is merely a shell of what he would go on to become and April only has a few lines in the entire season. When the screen time for these 2 dramatically increased it's no coincidence that the quality of the show dramatically increased.

I didn't really appreciate the first season until I went back after the show ended and watched it again. It's true that it's better to look at it as just one long pilot. It really isn't THAT bad, it got a lot of laughs. But it just doesn't compare to every other season, all of which were gold.

The main reason I disliked the first season was that Leslie Knope was a total cartoonish caricature. I know some people still find Leslie annoying, but she has grown exponentially since the first six episodes. .

Totally agree! She was the stereotypical trope of a woman who was successful but sheepish around a crush. Glad they empowered her and rewrote her character to be strong on her own.

I must admit. I really didn't like PaR. Leslie seemed like a bad version of Office's Michael Scott, the cast seemed boring and I LITERALLY hated Brandanowicz. I actually just watched it because of people recommending it (I started watching a year ago) and because I liked Andy Dwyer. Now, PaR is one of the best shows I watched. Love every character, and the town of Pawnee.

Totally found this show WAY too late in the season. Why do I always find decent tv in like season 5 of 7 total? Did anyone watch this show straight through from the word GO? Then I always feel dumb watching it straight through from the word GO when I find it so late in the game. I enjoy the episodes I have watched. I will probably never be a regular watcher though as I have jobs that have hours that are not normal or regular in only being day hours. I usually worked in the evenings. I watched a bunch on dvr though regularly. Was pretty regular for about a year and a half. I just get so overwhelmed with all the bad tv that stuff like P/R is never allowed to shine! Eliminate all the time spent talk about K. Kardashian and a real tv show would be allowed to find its footing.
