When she's not portrayed as a fiery Latina by the English speaking media, because essentially that was the basis for image rep. She's pretty calm and very mild-mannered on her Spanish interviews. However I would like to see her be placed in a role where her background doesn't orbit around her ethnicity like in modern family. She's a sweet woman and if she worked on her " English Accent" ( the one where she worked with Ellen) I think it could help her be more flexible to future roles. I'm not bashing on Latinos or anything ( I'm one as well) but Hollywood is rather strict with its tropes.

That's true! But take Johnny Depp for example, he can play many different characters and he is a great actor. Michael Cera on the other hand is a good actor but is always Michael Cera in every movie lol I respect actors who change according to their roles, for me that's talent :) I was a bit dissapointed when i found out that Gloria is a caricature of Sofia Vergara because it requires a lot less talent.

Props to the director because when you watch how he connects the pieces together every episode its just mind blowing how he does it. Like the episode where Cam and Mitchel propose to eachother. Who would have thought of that? THIS GUY.

Dina M Nope, it sure isn't impossible. It all depends on personal habits. The more she speaks Spanish, the less her English will improve. This is a known phenomenon.

I agree with you; Hollywood is watched from everywhere in the world, but if you're not from the US/Canada/UK/Aus, it is so rare you see someone from your country achieve the glamorous level of success that Vergara has in Hollywood. So to a Colombian person, she is a de facto representative of the entire country, culture, language, etc., and everyone is going to have their say about how well or poorly she represents the country. The good thing is Vergara doesn't seem to be perturbed by that.

I'm a black South African and we have the same relationship with dogs. People have become more Westernised now in the suburbs but that's how we grew up in the village & townships. Our dogs at home don't even try to enter the house because they know their place is outside. I too cannot understand the hugging and kissing of dogs haha it's just too much.
