This was the best video about PalFish I've found. I was just approved to be a tutor a couple days ago, but I haven't had a session yet. I have never done this before- so I am kind of nervous :P I'm a very clear English speaker and I am a good socializer, so I hope that's going to be good enough. I will be googling for conversation starters for ESL interactions and things like that. I sure hope this is something that works well for me. I'm willing to be awake at odd US hours to do it.

Very informative, thanks! Question: Would you please recommend a RMB-per-attendee for a Seminar, one that is on the higher end but not "out of sight"? And the how-to on the App for setting up a seminar? Any/all details most welcome!
@alicec47506 жыл бұрын
Hi Constance! Unfortunately, I haven't been very proactive in trying out seminars. All I really know is that people typically charge about 10 RMB for one. I would recommend that you try out that price first, because a seminar that is expensive that people haven't tried out yet isn't going to get many students. You should increase your price after that!

Hi Alice, I really liked your video. I have a question. When you say that there's a 20% Commission do you mean that the teachers are charged 20% over and above what they are paid by the students. For example if I charge 1 Yuan per minute for 60 minutes I would actually only be paid 48 Yuan for that amount of time. Am I understanding correctly?
@alicec47506 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct!

Hi Alice! Great video! I did not know that I can just login and wait for students to call. Or are you suppose to apply first and once you get hired as a Palfish tutor, then you can "login and wait for students to call" if you are noticed? I understand that you have to market yourself a bit by having live video sessions and posting moments like in Facebook. So, I recently found out about the "Palfish Official Kids Course Teacher" hiring season. I do have experience with teaching online with children and I have been thinking about applying. What if I get hired for the Official Kids Course but I later decide to NOT teach as Palfish Official Kids Course teacher? My question is: "Can I switch or can I apply for being a normal Palfish tutor where I can just login and wait for student to call?" Does that make sense? I noticed that the app of Palfish Official Kids Course has special effects on it. That's why I asked because I assume that the normal Palfish tutor app does not have the special effects included while a tutor teaches. The special effects that I'm referring are digital hats, eye glasses, etc that goes on one's face when activated.

Hi Ela, very sorry for the late reply. Basically, you do need to "apply" to be a tutor. That just means you have to fill out a teaching profile and wait for them to approve you. You can just go online to start tutoring. If you want to join the kids course, you can apply specifically for that! You don't have to only teach kids. I definitely teach adults and kids, so your schedule is up to you. The normal calls don't have the special affects, you're right. They are typically only voice calls.

How much do you charge the students in your class per hour?
@alicec47505 жыл бұрын
teresa navos it differs for official and nonofficial, or free talk classes. For official, the prices are set by PalFish and your payment depends on how much you taught the previous month. For free talk, I currently charge ¥3.6/min, but I have had a lot of experience. People charge anything from ¥1-¥5/minute, and you can charge more if you are in high demand
