Sorry a lot of questions, but I am detail oriented and helps me feel confident 😀. On the second slide for the interview we play a “hello teacher, hello friends” song. Should we be singing along with the song or lip sync so they can hear the song correctly? Also on this slide we should ask them their name and how old they are? Anything else? Is it up to us how to greet them? Do I need to drag their video the the circle too or they do that ?

Hi Tired Moma! Part of my interview instructions (empty classroom) state to spend 20 seconds showing your background and props- further along it mentions to teach to a hypothetical 5 year-old child with no previous English knowledge. So my question is this, when explaining my props at the beginning, am I describing them to the interviewer who will eventually watch my video, or am I describing them to the hypothetical 5 year-old? Since there are slides that take a little bit more time to cover, is it ok if you exceed the time cap for 20 minute? Do you do any of the free-talk or other options on the app as well, or just the kid classes? How does one apply to do the kid classes? Are there minimum hour requirements you have to teach each week, or is it as flexible as the others? I love VIPKid, but would like to work more as well, have a 2nd company. I got on with gogokid (my 1st month), and am not liking my experience with them, so I'm not planning on keeping that up. Would Palfish be a good secondary option?

1 star every 5 minutes or end of slide.....for the demo/interview, there are 19 slides. I did my demo,and they wanted me to do it over. I've taught for 15 yrs, I know how to teach. I know about body language, and that. But know how to take time with the kids, and make it entertaining, but needing to get thru 19 slides in 15-20 minutes, midway through I definitely started rushing,and skipping some stuff,and use of puppet, AR, etc. went out the window, as I was watching the clock. I know how to incorporate puppets/props/make it entertaining, how do you fit it into 19 slides, in that time frame?
@SamanthaSegrest5 жыл бұрын
Your demo only has to be 15 minutes and you don't have to finish all your slides
@martinwoyzeck26345 жыл бұрын
@@SamanthaSegrest Thanks. That wasn't told to me. It was said that I had 15 min to do 19 slides. No one said you don't have to finish. Now I have to do it over. Have to say, I am pursuing the job as I like the idea of being able to travel anywhere, and do this kind of work. But there is a lot of lack of information. I'm on the palfish fcbk site. There's daily hundreds of questions from business questions ,to the teaching,to basics,etc. It shouldn't be that the only place teachers can get solid info is on that site, or hours of youtube palfish vids. Glad they are there, but the point is it should be the responsibility of palteam. Haven't started, but do have mixed feelings about it.
