I first heard this song in 1975. It's never failed to move me. It's my number one favorite song of all time forever and ever no matter what. Thank you so much for honoring this fantastic transcended piece of music not of this world.

One of Jimi's greatest solo performances that was definitely straight from his soul. It sounds like it was possibly somewhat an improvational piece. It is also to an extent not really known about except by true Jimi fans as it is rarely if ever mentioned in any articles I've seen about Jimi's guitar playing. You did an excellent rendition Kelly. Thank you so much for choosing this absolutely Killer tune to pay homage to Jimi. 😊❤️

Thanks man! Yeah, I'm quite certain that this was an improvisational piece from Jimi. Really loose and super hard to pull apart by ear because of that. I finally bailed on the minute or so outro solo, haha. Needed to put this one behind me and move on. Sunk too many hours into it this week.

@Kelly Dean Allen Guitar I can imagine tackling this one really took in depth analysis, time and just plain mental exhaustion. You did fantastic though.

The best mixed and mastered version, of this song, has several guitars, and he sprinkles stuff with effects throughout it. Different tones, and patterns, with a few change-ups. Hendrix never performed this live, that I’ve ever known of, and I’ve listened to terrible bootlegs, just to hear a few live songs, that he just didn’t do many times. Something like Hey Baby was a one take studio improv, but Jimi had been doing variations of it, over many sessions. It’s like listening to 9 to the Universe. He’s doing a studio jam, and one can hear several of the chord progressions, from songs he would eventually flesh out, along with Jimi and the other musicians just going on tangents. There’s a Spanish Castle Magic, Little Wing, Bold As Love and Hear My Train, from the 1999(on Spotify it says 2009) Jimi Hendrix Experience compilation, all form Olympic Studios London, that are live one takes, in which one can hear Jimi click wahs, or a Fuzz pedal on at certain points, which really show how great he was, with great sound quality in the recordings. Check those out, if you haven’t, as I think the Spanish Castle is better than the album version. On the Little Wing and Bold as Love takes, he’s still writing those iconic solos, while jamming the part, and one can hear exactly where SRV pulled his version of Little Wing from, as if he listened to the same tapes, back in the 70’s, on a bootleg.

@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar I’ve tackled this one myself, and even not trying to note for note it, there are just so many signature parts, which make the piece so great, it takes some time to get through. I really liked the voicings you did at the end, and it was overall awesome.

So underrated. Jimi was really ahead of his time. Love your tone on this btw! And can really appreciate the amount of effort it must have took to piece this all together by ear, I could never have the patience.

Three or four days of nothing but this. A lot of work. Especially since it's just improv for the most part. Timing is really messed up at times.

I have every record ever released by Jimi and Rainbow Bridge is without question the best. A totally different direction of music released after he died. We know where he was going and it is such a shame that he was never able to complete the journey. I find it fascinating that so many people never even heard of this record. The movie was shit but this record was amazing. Nobody can cover him 100% but you did a commendable job. I think your pace was a little off and you missed the ending but just about everything else was almost spot on.

@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar I was just kidding around-I'm just bitter bc i can barely even follow along with it at half speed, even .75 is too fast for me to keep up with. This is mind bogglingly fast at regular speed. I don't understand how you can play it that fast. Unless its totally muscle memory and you don't have to actually think about what you're playing, IDK how you do it. By the time Ive thought about the next lick, you've already past that lick, the next one and are playing three licks ahead. I wish I had time to practice this and really dedicate myself to it. It's amazing. Have you ever transcribed Mannish Boy or Catfish Blues from Hendrix: Blues?

@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar Jimi's timing is almost impossible to replicate, whatever tempo you play at. Mitch and Buddy were the perfect drummers for him, both with jazz fusion backgrounds. Very nice rendition, thanks and blessings.
