Another interesting fact is that Hawaii had no need for an Army Hawaii was and still is a neutral country like Sweden etc There are international laws protecting these countries from wars against them. In 1893 the Honolulu Rifles militia overthrew the Hawaiian Kingdom and formed a provisional government. Without an army, the Queen tried to surrender to the US. It didn't work and within 48 hours every government with a diplomatic presence in Hawaii recognized the provisional government. In 1894 it became the Republic of Hawaii. Get educated.
