When CA government officials allow people to build a community closed to mountain with trees in California, which is a desert land, having "multiple reservoirs" or "huge water storage tanks" home around should be required and charge the owners of the community a management fee (HOA) on maintaining functioning reservoirs to use effectively in case of fire. Every time when the Santa Ana winds blow, there will be damage to the forest animals in your neighborhood, and home insurance premiums will go up every year, and coverage will decrease. . . . It seems that no one tries to fix the barn even after losing the cow !!! There are multiple reservoirs. The Santa Ynez reservoir which contains 117 millions gallons was empty and offline for repair, something the DWP CEO was aware of and probably should have changed until the Santa Ana season was mostly over. HOA's are for small potato items, not something like a reservoir or storage tank. If you saw what the DWP charges people in these areas, it's more than enough for them to do a better job. And then you have people like the Kardashians who were accused of using 232,000 gallons OVER the allotted monthly usage....we need personal responsibility as well as utility management.

Poor people. First thing to do yearly is do firebreaks clear brush etc and install water pipes on top of roofs with tiles and or concrete that dont burn. Living around all that brush without these procedures in place will give more fires to do damage. I would have fire breaks around my home with concrete barriers. But i would rather live in an area away from pitentoal danger. Bless everyone and stay safe..

The number of simultaneous fires seems very sus. If it's naturally occurring or because of faulty transformers then that's another preventative issue. But having homes in risky fire, mudslides, earthquake prone areas where gov can't manage the risk or money probably should reconsider building there.
