Great Job Allen, Those are great designs. I have a couple of suggestions. 1)make one of the panels removable so it can be cleaned out if needed. 2) Do not put any chemicals around the opening because birds will peck at it and could die or get sick. Just some bird friendly advice. I love your designs. Cheers,

Interesting idea and good craftmanship, but...the plants will need to be watered regularly, leading to wet soil, which means the wood soon will rot. Also, avoid the perch since it will help predators access the eggs/hatchlings. Furthermore, a hatch/door so the house can be easily cleaned is also good.
@creepermaniac80272 жыл бұрын
Easily solvable by working a plastic bag into it, perhaps with holes in it and also little holes in the bottom of the wood, so the water fill flow away and the biggest part of the wood stays dry. Btw, it's a bird house so it will all eventually rot because of the precipitation, luckily it is a fun project to do once in 10 years and pallet wood is free.
@Vinterfrid2 жыл бұрын
@@creepermaniac8027 Despite a plastic bag water will sip through and make the wood rot. Furthermore, pallet wood is usually treated and will be harmful to birds - despite it being free. Yes, birdhouses won't last for an eternity - but why not build one that will last for as long as possible when you have the opportunity to do it?
@WdmsWoodwork Жыл бұрын
@@Vinterfridvery unlikely it will rot if you out the bag in properly and dont alow contact with the wood

I see a lot of people asking for dimensions. Is there a place I can get these? Holes in the part where you plant and plastic lining should prevent rot. I have a question about the types of sealants, paint etc that can or cannot be used on birdhouses. I thought only naturally finishes etc are safe. Great job and great use of pallet wood.

Taking a chance with that tablesaw not using a pushguide?. I have seen someone else do the same thing and the wood split and spun round the blade then stuck into his arm and pulled him in to the blade taking off half his hand. Don't tempt fate cause you just don't know what freak accident could happen!!
