Nice work. The things I would made different are: apply a finish on the wood, use all the same knobs, hide the wires and the battery and use a LED strip with a white silicone cover so that the LEDs are not visible.

This build is awesome! A well thought out design with it's creativity inspiring use of different uses of materials while keeping it simplistic. Overall bad ass execution. Thanks for sharing this with us. I was looking at buying a Bluetooth speaker, and now considering it as a DIY project. Designing and creating it with the personalization elements of exactly how I want it to look. 🙂

The distortion you're hearing on the very low end is due to the density of the wood you used. Denser == better for wave guides because they're less likely to rattle.
@platinumsky8452 жыл бұрын
Not quite true. Because both sides of the board are exposed to the sound wave (among other reasons) waveguide and transmission line speakers are much more immune to coloration in the sound by the cabinet material. The main cause for that kind of distortion would be from an improperly tuned or designed system. Just from a glance one can tell that the transmission line isn't tuned to a proper length for those drivers.

The woodwork is good but the soldering is not very good. The biggest problem is that the volume for the subwoofer was chosen incorrectly, and the channel length was also not counted for full-range speakers. The sound could be better if we made a closed space of a small volume for full-range speakers, and give the remaining volume to a woofer with a passive radiator. Well, for beauty, it was possible to make the LED strip blink in time with the music with different effects on the arduino platform
@vinylcabasse2 жыл бұрын
i was surprised as well at the low chamber volume for the sub. fun to look at probably but not doing much for adding bass. try WinISD for your next project! easy/free way to model/tune an enclosure for a given driver's parameters

Killer project bro and beautiful work. Can not tell how music sounds tho. Based on the EDM it sounds no better than any POS from Best Buy... Would have loved to hear how it renders acoustic or vocal music. As beautiful and brilliant as this thing looks, it's a dud if the sonic does not match the beauty of the physical design. Super cool tho!! (unless those are JBL CNC plans, id black out the logo as it steals the top visual and dilutes your own self/brand as the actual innovator. 😉)
@ZachPye2 жыл бұрын
Acoustic or vocal heavy music is super easy to "render" as there is not much detail to get lost in the music, yes it might not have a great sound stage but will still sound good. With EDM there is a lot going on all at once and can get a lot of detail lost really fast
@winstonpratt6042 жыл бұрын
I would second that motion yo
@westelaudio9432 жыл бұрын
@@ZachPye Not true, our brains are wired to recognize voices so any coloration or impurity is easily heard. With EDM, you don't instinctually know how it's supposed to sound, unless you listened to the same track dozens of times on a very good system, no matter how much detail there supposedly is. So apart from the bass range, EDM is a simplistic task for any speaker.
@ZachPye2 жыл бұрын
@@westelaudio943 I have to disagree, a phone speaker can reproduce vocals with good accuracy. If I play Paris by Sabrina Carpenter through my Note 20 Ultra, her voice is clear and still has good emotion. Now if play an EDM track like Devil's Den by Deelyle, you can barely understand him once the chorus hits because of all the information happening at once. It gets worse with the track Backbone by Droeloe and Nevve. If I really feel like testing a speakers or headphones I put on a Nightcore track like Echo by Crusher-P because nothing in that song is real. EDM is not a simple task for a speaker, even my bluetooth speaker struggles with some of the EDM tracks but not my MA Bronze 2's
@westelaudio9432 жыл бұрын
@@ZachPye Well, it's true a phone built in speaker is a "voice range" or midrage (500Hz - 5k) but it's designed for maximun SPL at that band, not any type of accuracy. You can hear voice loudly and understand it clearly, but it obviously sounds electronic and not anywhere near real. For that you need a really good speaker that also has decent and seamless bottom- and top end. EDM obviously sounds like a mess and worse than voice on a tiny midrange full of distortions, but it already sounds decent on a cheap party speaker with sloppy ported woofers and piezo horns, and from that point on you have diminishing returns as far as accuracy goes. While with a good vocal recording you can really hear the shortcomings of such a system, it sounds boomy and nasal and not anywhere near a real person singing.

the space where the amplifier is sealed off, you could use that extra space to improve low frequencies, and use a bigger woofer by 1 inch, can't get much bass from a little 2 or 3 inch woofer, should aim for a 4 -5 inch at least, bigger more efficiency so you still get more bass with the same power.
